What they are is Red Front, a perfect copy of the 1920s Weimar Germany organization who believed the path to communism ran through controlling the streets and denying nationalist parties any liberty to speak in public.
In their areas of concentration, like Berkeley, Seattle, and even DC to a degree, they have had some success controlling the public space. They attack conservative meetings, they trash private property, they control who speaks on college campuses, they pretty much have had free rein - until now.
