Sacramento police issued 233 tickets for jaywalking last year in the police district that includes North Sacramento and Del Paso Heights nearly triple the number handed out in the entire rest of the city.
Black people received 111 of those citations, nearly 50 percent, but account for about 15 percent of the areas residents.
The equivalent of 12 citations were issued to every 1,000 black residents in District 2 last year, more than 5 times the issuance rate for non-blacks, city and census figures show.
The citation numbers, released in response to a request by The Bee, drew outrage from public officials and community members concerned that residents of the largely black and Latino area are unfairly targeted by law enforcement.
Its absurd and its something that has to be looked at, said Councilman Allen Warren, who represents the area where the citations were issued. That is why there is such concern and anger within District 2, because they are being stopped disproportionately and with no reason.
On Monday, a jaywalking case in Del Paso Heights made headlines when Nandi Cain, 24, was stopped and repeatedly punched by an officer after allegedly walking illegally across Grand Avenue near Cypress Street on his way home from work. Cain questioned the officer over the reasonableness of the jaywalking allegation and initially walked away as the officer ordered him to stop. Video of the event shot by a bystander went viral by Monday night, prompting the department to release further dashcam video that showed the officer punching Cain about 18 times.

Most of the blacks have been priced out of San Francisco and moved to Oakland. But there’s a lot of nasty people in SF of all colors. It used to be such a beautiful city.
It’s time to have that open and honest conversation about race in America that Holder admonished us for.
“””Black people received 111 of those citations, nearly 50 percent, but account for about 15 percent of the areas residents.”””
I know this is hard for the leftist media to believe, but it just simply could be possible that black people jaywalk more than other ethnic groups.
Is it because they are targeted, or because they break the law more often than other races? Actually, one feeds off the other. Since they are known to be more frequent violators, they may be watched a bit more closely.
These libs would have let Michael Brown (aka the “gentle giant”) off with a warning instead of jaywalking for walking down the middle of the street just after a strong-arm robbery.
Of course he was instead confronted, and the rest is history (rise of BLM).
During the Obama administration it was decided that too many minority children were being suspended for misbehavior, sometimes violent. So some school districts developed a system that allowed these kids to do whatever they felt like doing, and provided them some counseling. Needless to say, some teachers had to quit or transfer out as they couldn’t teach under those circumstances, and sometimes they feared for their safety.
Lol! I jaywalk every morning to get to my car parked in the shade across the street. Spending the day writing jaywalking tickets is akin to dereliction of duty.
I wonder how many children were raped while these cops were writing tickets so the city could make its exec bonuses.
RIO LINDA- Pretty River
The Derbyshire Rule #9:
(9) A small cohort of blacksin my experience, around five percentis ferociously hostile to whites and will go to great lengths to inconvenience or harm us. A much larger cohort of blacksaround halfwill go along passively if the five percent take leadership in some event. They will do this out of racial solidarity, the natural willingness of most human beings to be led, and a vague feeling that whites have it coming.
I can usually spot that head-on stare-down stride heading my way ... expecting that I have to move aside even though I’m walking on the right and he’s moving toward me in “my” lane either on the street or on the stairs.
So when I see that coming I stop in my tracks to look at my watch, check my phone, or pretend that I’m suffering an uncontrollable sneeze (last one more credible on stairs). That always gets them moving back to their lane, as any push up against me while I’m standing in place, thankfully, remains to be a line that most won’t cross.
Rio Linda is basically the old neighborhood for the former McClellan Air Force Base which closed.
it was always a little scummy but now because of the base closure it’s much much more scummy.
A guy from Rio Linda who used to call and bug Rush was a guy who each and every time wanted to discuss the topic of water fluoridation.
he eventually established his reputation as a total kook.
Getting fined for no seat belt is another bogus fine.

I call that "The Look". It says I'd kill you if I thought I could get away with it. As opposed to the high school aged white kids who do the similar slow-walk, but with a smirk instead.
Well I got to say that in a small city I once lived...that had been taken over by drug gangs and the like....that’s exactly how they got them to move back to Philadelphia.
Their attorneys were getting them off for technicalities so it was a cycle. The “new” Mayor was then installed and hired a lot more officers with the plan to ticket everyone for the least infraction of any law. To bombard them with traffic loitering, jaywalking, loud music,...just everything.....their Attorneys were getting called ‘all the time’ and finally they got tired of spending there time in court and paying the fines......
It worked...they cleared the city out of this dirt by those measures.
He had the same pumping swagger that practically every young defendant in the Bronx affected, the Pimp Roll. Such stupid self-destructive macho egos, thought Kramer. They never failed to show up with the black jackets and the sneakers and the Pimp Roll..."
As one who spends a lot of time in NYC, I know exactly of what he speaks. A lot of white kids do this too, by the way.
Sorry, the race card expired on 1/20/09 and is non-renewable.
Walking in the middle of the street is a way to avoid security cameras.
lets put a couple of cameras up and leave them up for two weeks, then actually see who jaywalks....
Rofl, obviously you didn’t bother to look at the article.
There were 233 jaywalking tickets issued in that district in ONE YEAR. Fewer than one per day.
No one was spending all their days writing jaywalking tickets.
