Meet Dr. Jumana Nagarwala of Livonia, Michigan who was arrested on Wednesday and charged by the DOJ of performing female genital mutilation on girls “who were approximately 6 to 8 years old.”

Seven days later, an FBI child forensic interviewer talked to one of the girls, who said she was brought to Detroit with a second girl for a “special girls’ trip,” according to the FBI.
After arriving in Farmington Hills, the girls were taken to a doctor because “their tummies hurt.”
“While at the doctor’s office, a procedure ‘to get the germs out,’” was performed on the first girl, according to the criminal complaint. The girl was shown a photo of Nagarwala and said she was the doctor who performed the procedure, according to the FBI.
The girl told the FBI that Nagarwala “pinched” her on the “place (where) she goes pee,’” the government alleges.
“(The girl) said that she was told not to talk about the procedure,” FBI Special Agent Kevin Swanson wrote in the complaint.
A subsequent medical examination showed that the girl’s genitals did not appear normal and a section had been altered or removed, according to the court filing.
Why not arrest the parents?

The DOJ announced that, “[t]his is believed to be the first case brought under 18 U.S.C. 116, which criminalizes FGM.”
This case is certainly an indication of that.
“I was thinkin’ - pinch HIM where he goes pee. With vice grips.”
Doctor is a WOMAN
As I said in post 90, this seems to have been no greater a mutilation than male circumcision, in this case a snipping of the clitoral hood. No removal of the clitoris, no vaginal infibulation.
It is quite possible that this woman doctor is making a humane medical judgement, performing a symbolic circumcision only, and that without her, some parents might take their daughters some to someone who would do much worse.
No patients will commit suicide because of a surgery as small as this.

Can you read? Either my words or the original article? There does not appear to have been a removal of the clitoris. What was removed or snipped was the clitoral hood, the female equivalent of the foreskin.
