Walmart is the worst to do business with. The dictate price like they own you.

They don't want to pay you unless they sell your item and if not they want fun return rights.

This is great news, if they mean what they say.

In addition, this will also be a test to the American consumer to see if they really are willing to buy American, even if the product costs a little more.

I say that many will, provided the quality is second-to-none.

Most companies don't have the necessary depth of experience or finances to play in this arena. Most would be well-advised to steer clear of engaging with WMT, IMO.

The fact that Walmart wants to purchase USA made products is a ‘once in a lifetime’ event?

The company I work for sells to Walmart. All Made in USA.

I used to work with them a little bit. Every few weeks, we’d get a letter from them highlighting one of the products we sold requiring proof of each and every label claim. If we said it does X, what’s the proof. 3rd party testing, internal testing etc.

It was my job to research the questions and respond It was a pain but I really appreciated that they kept us honest. I also learned some things while I was doing it, one was that my company had high ethical standards. We had hard proof for everything.

Made in USA does not necessarily mean what it used to mean...

A more precise decryption is needed, such as: Made in USA with USA materials by USA citizens and or documented legals...

I’ve noticed they have a substantial “seen on TV” section and most products seem to be made in the USA. More of that?

According to the info at the link part of their program is for ‘direct importer’ businesses.

Despite ignorant comments here, they have very smart and sophisticated buyers and processes. WalMarts supp!iers must succeed in order for WM to succeed.

Didn’t Mike Rowe say this was going to happen about 10 years ago ?

This is very good. (Walmart founder Sam Walton tried to sell only USA goods but couldn’t stock the shelves adequately - even back then before all the recent American plant closings. But certainly some improvement is possible ...)

Perhaps Walmart could invite back all the American gun manufacturers they kicked out of their stores some years back.

Just a thought.

Yup. Only when walmart was everywhere did our ice cream containers get smaller, cereal boxes shrunk, and of course, if you see a great new product, get it when it first comes out because the next time you go it’ll be replaced by a cheap-crap version. They’re only doing it because they are getting wiped by Amazon. They should go back to their roots, but Dollar General has them beat in tiny rural towns and all over the place. Love small town general stores.

WalMarts suppliers must succeed in order for WM to succeed.

There's a line out the door of companies who have a bone to pick with you. The first line in the WMT "Buyer's Book of Processes" is "You must get the "WMT Price" from the supplier." Example: The Wal-Mart You Don't Know

Exactly. Shifting delivery schedules and they will pound on you relentlessly for a price reduction.

“Made in USA with USA materials by USA citizens...”

I have a vintage (1940’s) ‘Pflueger Fish-Hooks’ box on the shelf above my desk that states on the back in bold print almost exactly what you said.

MADE IN U.S.A.
BY AMERICAN WORKERS
OF AMERICAN MATERIAL
