U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said in an interview that she sees regime change in Syria as one of the Trump administration's priorities in the country wracked by civil war.
Defeating Islamic State, pushing Iranian influence out of Syria, and the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad are priorities for Washington, Haley said in an interview on CNNs State of the Union which will air in full on Sunday.
"It just -- if you look at his actions, if you look at the situation, it's going to be hard to see a government that's peaceful and stable with Assad."
AFP reported:
"We dont see a peaceful Syria with Assad in there," Haley said.

It's insane to think we should hunker down here waiting for terrorists to attack rather than destroy them.
Ignoring terrorists and letting them have base operation in the middle east will guarantee something worse than 9/11.
You learned nothing from 9/11. Your foreign policy views are dumb as Obama's.
And, BTW, we lost almost as many on 9/11 as we did during the entire time in Iraq.
And, BTW, we lost almost as many on 9/11 as we did during the entire time in Iraq.
For nothing. That doesn’t seem smart.
You’re saying: hey, losing thousands of people for nothing is not bad, it’s less than we lost than on 9/11!
Nonsense! She's ruling out a political solution working with Assad on the problems in Syria. She is NOT ruling out a political solution where the people of Syria decide the fate Assad. And she has said NOTHING about using force.
Reagan bombed qaddafi’s residence! Google it if my memory is betraying me.
Trump has definitely not invaded Syria. Trump has not ordered any Marines to land in Syria. He simply took the moral high ground to make an effective statement against killing babies in a hideous and horrible way by chemical poisons.
I can not believe why so many on this pro-life forum are against protecting babies in Syria from chemical poisoning. Did not God make Syrian babies too? Or is it that some value cost of cruise missiles more than lives of innocent children in Syria?
Going to Iraq was a mistake. Going to Afghanistan and hunting down Bin Laden and going after Al Qaeda was absolutely necessary and has diminished the terrorist threat.
Neither do I and Trump is working at keeping them out. You should get on your knees and thank God he is in the White House instead of attacking him.
With all due respect, it’s only been about a few months, and he’s had to deal with obstructionists in the Dems and his own party as well. Rome wasn’t built in a day, after all. The changes we want will likely take time. Also, don’t you think he knows that he has to retain the support of his base if he wants to get reelected?
All good points! I especially liked the last one. The idea that Trump would shaft his base so that a Democrat could beat him during the next election is absurd. Trump worked hard to get to the place where he could MAGA; he’s not going to sabotage himself.
