For CNN, it took a war and pointed, globalist "rhetoric" for Trump to become President of the United States. Per CNN host Fareed Zakaria on "New Day" this morning:
I think Donald Trump became president of the United States last night. I think this was actually a big moment."
"Candidate Trump had said that he would never get involved in the Syrian civil war. He told President Obama you can not do this without the authorization of Congress. He seemed unconcerned with global norms."
"President Trump recognized that the President of the United States does have to act to enforce international norms, does have to have this broader moral and political purpose. President Trump realized, as every president has for many decades now, that they have inherent legal authority as commander-in-chief and they don't have to go to a pesky Congress every time they want military force."
For the first time really as president, he talked about international norms, international rules, about Americas role in enforcing justice in the world. It was the kind of rhetoric that we've come to expect from American presidents since Harry Truman, but it was the kind of rhetoric that President Trump had pointedly never used either on the campaign trail nor in his inaugural."
"So I think there has been an interesting morphing and a kind of education of Donald Trump."
Hmmm..CNN now joins MSNBC, McCain, Lindsey, Schumer, Pelosi, Hillary, ISIS, AL Nusra, Al-Qaeda, Elliot Abrams (Neocon central), IMC, IC, House of Saud and many others in cheering on Trump’s attack on Assad.
With friends like this....
Pres. Trump WILL get the support of ISIS, al Qaeda,
Soros, Clinton, the MSM, McCain, Graham, and
Gorelick with this .... but he will lose of his
strongest REAL supporters, ie. those of his base,
who he did not dislodge by his stubborning
IGNORING his promise of removing OBAMACARE ... and Ryan.
He’s been president for months, now... ever since January.
And a single strike against a Syria airfield is not war. It is the sending of a message.
“but he will lose of his
strongest REAL supporters”
Very true, I voted for him so we could stay out to the Middle East quagmire, not expand it.
Don’t over react. This is about gassing your own people. A proportional strike. Next move is Asad’s.
In the ME, we just never know who the good guys are.. To me, I am not certain if this is some plan straight out of the Palestinian playbook, or a real attack. The Syrian rapefugee crisis started with a dead Aleppo child washing up in front of a camera.
If you are going to act, it must be swift, bold, but every ME conflict we have been into is a disaster. Blood, lives and money, wasted in places that I am not sure are better off. I think we fail to grasp deeply, the religious schisms of Islam and their absolute willingness to inflict torture on other human beings.
This one is about a gas pipeline that has been in the works for years.. so why antagonize Russia? We have no business in Syria. It’s some proxy war with Russia and whomever, over a gas pipeline.
“It is the sending of a message.”
Oh yes, the message is loud and clear....
A betrayal of his Campaign promises and past comments.
“AGAIN, TO OUR VERY FOOLISH LEADER, DO NOT ATTACK SYRIA - IF YOU DO MANY VERY BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN & FROM THAT FIGHT THE U.S. GETS NOTHING!”
DJT on Twitter, 9/5/2013 in response to the alleged August gas attack by the Assad regime.
Is that the only reason you voted for him? Who else would you have voted for? Hillary? Ya know we just got a splendid supreme court justice? Plus the other stuff he is doing. He didn’t go into this alone he was advised by the likes of mad dog whom we all cheered a few months back. Zero left us a friggin mess and we need to be patient and have faith my friend.
It is the sending of a message.

But back when he said that, Europe and the US were not being inundated with Syrian refugees. It’s in our best interest to do something about the refugee crisis.
We are not at war. CNN has not changed.
Politically, this helps Trump negate the LIE that he is a Putin ally. Geopolitically, it sends a message to terrorists of all stripes that he will slam them.
Foreign policy? I remain unconvinced there are any good guys in Syria. Helping any of them is a mistake in that arena.
You have to wonder about the strategery going forward and if Banon et al are on board.

*************************************************************
Meaning what? Will you vote for him in 2020 or not?
As for “staying out of the ME quagmire”? Where have you been since 3001? We ARE in the ME quagmire and remain there because we are not fighting to WIN this war, we are instead engaged in a blocking action to thwart and deflect aggression by the ragheads.
The way a war is won is to utilize the forces you control to completely obliterate the enemy, his weaponry, his structures, and the will to fight. The very reason for a military is to break things and kill people.
When you plan military strategy with an eye toward how your “friends” will react rather than your enemies you have already lost.
STFU and vote Democrat next time.
You sound EXACTLY like the other weirdo’s on FR who, if the candidate is not ABSOLUTE perfection in his Conservative credentials promise to either stay home or vote for the dem to “teach Rep a lesson”.
Butt wipes, all of those who think like this.
So much for colluding with Russia, eh, Fuhreak (sp?)?
“It is the sending of a message.” Thank God I’m alone in thinking this. This sends a strong message to Putin, the Chinese, NK, Iran and anyone else who wants to stuff around. On one hand it is only a very small occurrence but the message it says is that Trump is not Obama and that, while he does not wish to get involved in some things, there are lines you do not cross and if you do the action will be swift and brutal!
That’s a good message for all to understand both friend and foe!
That remains to be seen.
