What bothers me is I am not sure where the gas came from. Assad, another party, rouge captain ordering it. Lots of choices.
Israel’s intelligence carry’s a fair amount of weight with me. Netanyahu was certain Assad was a bad player here. I don’t think he said that publicly without some reason.
It is true that Israel and Syria have had some bad blood recently. Does that figure in? I tend to doubt it. Israel has been fairly even handed in it’s views. If it thinks something was bad, it says so. If not, it generally doesn’t blow it out without a reason.
Did Syria his a rebel cash? Trump says Syria has used gas a number of times over the last few months. Did Syria his stashes each time?
I think Trump had intel to back his play. I can’t imagine him just going all in for nothing.
