The leader of the conservative group Heritage Action on Wednesday accused moderate House Republicans of blocking a deal on a new ObamaCare replacement bill.
Heritage Action CEO Michael Needham said in a call with reporters that prospects for a deal this week have fallen apart and proposed that lawmakers go back to their districts over the recess to regroup.
He blamed the moderate Tuesday Group for standing in the way of a deal.
"I think the Tuesday Group clearly wants to keep ObamaCare in place," Needham said, adding that "pressure needs to be put on the Tuesday Group to get to yes." Needham even listed some of the lawmakers in the group, accusing Reps. Leonard Lance (R-N.J.), David Joyce (R-Ohio) and Patrick Meehan (R-Pa.) of going back on their word after previously criticizing ObamaCare.
He also blamed House Republican leadership for what he said was a failure to push to get through a deal proposed by Vice President Pence on Monday night.
That proposal would have allowed states to apply for waivers to forgo ObamaCare regulations that mandate which healthcare services an insurer must cover, as well as prohibitions against charging people with pre-existing conditions higher premiums or denying them coverage.
Allowing states to repeal those protections has drawn pushback from more moderate members, whom Needham criticized.
Needham said that the original proposal from Pence was modified on Tuesday to narrow the regulations for which states could get a waiver. The newer proposal would only have allowed states to get a waiver from the regulations on what a plan must cover, not the pre-existing condition protections, he said. That idea, however, was not conservative enough, Needham added.
"There's not momentum at this point and it's because of the intransigence of the Tuesday Group," Needham said.

GOPe. The enemy of small-government conservatism. You’re going to have to crush them, Mr. President.
Watching the GOP in action is nothing short of awesome.
“Moderate” as in constantly cave to the ‘Rats moderate?
Let me explain the core issue as I detect it. The Tuesday group wants you to pay a huge premium in case any body signs up with a pre existing condition and a million dollar future expenditure. They don’t give a crap because they have special government insurance that you can’t buy. They must think that a fire insurance company should insure someone who’s house burned down last week.
Preexisting condition patients should go to a high risk pool that they pay for— Not me!
This is about premium level. If these republicrats can’t cut our premiums in half — just keep the damned obamacare. When it fails just go to the ER. And cut the crap on all these subsidies ( credits).Health insurance it not a constitutional right except in Russia!!
When a Democrat votes for a Democrat they know exactly what they’re getting.
When a Republican votes for a Republican they have no clue what they are getting.
And this is what’s wrong with the Republican party.
I do have a clue what I am getting when I vote for a Republican.
Total crap.
Hilarious. Got to love the Freedom Caucasians.
So will the Cult of Personality show up here on FR to tear into the Tuesday Group the way they tore into conservatives last week?
My guess is.....no.
And will Trump tweet: “If Tuesday Group doesn’t get on board, everyone will suffer. We must fight them, and dems, in 2018!!”
My guess is.....no.
GOOD, for whatever reason. Don’t RUSH it this time. Don’t HIDE it this time.
Make the case to the public, WHATEVER the case is. THEN and only THEN bring it back up for a vote.
This way, it doesn’t have to be a perfect bill, just acceptable. It’s all we can hope for. Perfection is unattainable in this world.
There are two kinds of pr-existing conditions
1) Results of bad Lifestyle choices (tobacco, drugs, alcohol, gluttony, skydiving, etc.)
2) Results on birth defects, genetic disorders, etc.
#2 should be in a pool with everyone. #1 should pay a higher premium with all kinds of behavior and work requirements. Allow them to DIE if they can’t find private charity to cover their bad choices.
The recent increase in both Social Security Disability and Medicaid Disability has been due primarily to group #1. SSI/Medicaid should also be tightened up for group #1.
Why do these so-called “moderates” from blue states care about whether those of us in red states want to opt-out of Obamacare? These guys are from blue states. Probably no waiver is going to go to their states and their constituents anyway.
Will we see the same kind of excoriation of the Tuesday Group on Free Republic that we saw of the Freeedom Caucus?
I am aware of a boy born with a genetic disorder that resulted in seizures. Thousands of seizures that destroyed his cognitive abilities and paralyzed and blinded him. His medical bills have exceeded $2.7 million. Taking this case as an example, why should I pay bigger premiums for him?
This is not without solution. These pre existing cases can go into high risk pools and after all resources are exhausted then a government subsidy can occur for that particular person. I have advocated a VA type infrastructure for the very needy and shift our medicaid into that VA type infrastructure. But don’t punish us because of someones condition or poverty level. That is not fair to US!! These republicrats are WAY OFF on this deal and they wont even show it to us. i have to get this in pieces but this communist crap has got to be defeated. The answer is a private free market system and a safety net for the poor and sick or just go to the ER.
My guess is.....no.
No, because tearing into the TG as the downfall of AHCA would contradict their previous tearing into of the FC as the downfall of AHCA. Cultists never give up an enemy.
All you're doing is shifting the expenditure from your insurance premium, where you can see it, to your tax bill where it's buried with every other category of government spending.
You're still paying for the kid's care.
It is a cost of government,Not my insurance premium!! Huge difference in a free market capitalist country.
In a true free market you could choose not to buy insurance, but you're going to pay taxes.
As I said, you pay either way and under your suggested approach you lose all choice.
“They dont give a crap because they have special government insurance that you cant buy.”
Actually, since January 1, 2014, congressional Members and congressional staff wishing to purchase employer-sponsored insurance must do so through through a plan or exchange created under Obamacare (ACA), in this case the District of Columbias small business health options program (SHOP) exchange, also known as DC Health Link, or DC SHOP.
So they have the basic health care options as anyone else in DC who eligible to use the exchange.
They DO have a few other options that are only available to Federal employees, including Federal Flexible Spending Account Program (FSAFEDS); the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP); the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP); the Office of the Attending Physician; and treatment in military facilities.

One of the *really* frustrating things about discussions of community rating is that few people are aware of the “paradox of aging”: that the “healthier” you are now, the higher (on average) your lifetime health-care costs will likely be, as you are more likely to live long enough to get a form of dementia and/or develop expensive multiple chronic degenerative diseases.
So it’s the healthiest young adults who will be the greatest beneficiaries of the aspects of the ACA the Freedom Caucus is trying to eliminate on the grounds that they are unfair to the young and healthy.
So next time you are standing in line next to a morbidly obese person purchasing cart full of carbohydrates and four cartons of unfiltered Camels, reflect on the fact that they are performing a highly altruistic act by working hard on dying early, and thus reducing overall healthcare costs!
Ha.That is great. You are very knowledgeable. I assume you know communism doesn’t work because it is unfair to the producer. Free market solutions or let this thing just collapse.
