It is said that Watergate wasnt about the crime, but about the coverup. Well, at least in the Watergate scandal, there was a proper crime specifically, the break-in and wiretapping. The frenzy has created a scandal without perpetrators or a crime. There is a sense that Washington is on the brink, but no one can say on the brink of what.
Rice has a history of a strained relationship with the truth, and for a national security adviser, she has, at times, flown close to the partisan political flame. So, what was going on? Why did she do it? And with whom, in the government and the media, did she share the information?
Multiple senators are now demanding her testimony. There could have been crimes committed and a real scandal could develop, so you can bet the full story will be slow to emerge. It appears that Rice has issued the standard denials. And her defenders on Capitol Hill and in the media will do all they can to distract and demand that there is nothing to see here. Democrats and their media allies will continue to make baseless allegations, hoping that the Russia investigations will somehow deliver for them and become this presidents Watergate.
The result so far? Competing outrage. Just as Democrats are pursuing L-TACs (links, ties, associations or contacts) in search of a crime, the Obama White Houses national security adviser has now landed as one of the ones who will have to answer for her actions under oath. Washington is as scandal-primed as Ive ever seen it there is a lot of smoke right now, but no clear fire. So the noise and finger-pointing will continue. And I have no idea who is winning.

And, if I’m recalling correctly, Rice once worked for Clinton. She’d be doing it to help her boss AND her old boss. Double the motive.
Perhaps this is what was revealed to Bill Clinton on the tarmac, while the plane noise drowned out their voices, “Sorry, Bill, but we’ve listened to it all and Donald Trump and his family are as clean as a whistle.”
Bill probably told that to Hillary, and that’s why, when she was forced in the debate to say something good about him, she remarked that he had a “very nice family.” She was probably amazed and incredulous that they couldn’t get anything on them and that was on her mind.
WaPo, as fanatically left as it is, feels a need to climb down off the conveyor belt to the incinerator.
They believe it. They don’t accept it.
Hey two minutes can be just enough!
Hi LS-
please put me on your ping list. Thank you.
Back in the early 70’s, the Post became prominent as a result of covering WaterGate.
Perhaps the Editorial board there has figured that investigating and telling the truth again will reinstate their once vaunted position.
Nahhhh.
Nice thought though :)
Could you please add me to your ping list?
Please add to me the ping list. And thank you!!!
Can you please add me to your ping list?
Thanks!
The Obama administration assumed Hillary Clinton was going to win the election, so all of the evidence of this illegal surveillance was going to disappear. When Trump won, they knew they were all going to get caught with their pants down, so to speak -- so they fabricated the story about Russia's ties to the Trump campaign in order to rationalize the surveillance.
Yes, the Obama administration assumed Clinton was going to win the election. They also assumed that Jeb was going to be the Republican nominee. This meant that Hillary, who they knew was a TERRIBLE candidate, would have an easy time of winning, since "Please clap" Jeb was an idiot (my opinion is also that the GOPe were in on this Kabuki Theater, and fully expected Jeb to lose).
Obama went into full panic mode when Trump began racking up the delegates in advance of the convention. That's when he started the spying operation on him and his staff.
Put me on the Ping List, please.
