I know how I’d vote if I was on that grand jury.
[[These rounds definitely went down a very crowded street.]]
Does forensic evidence prove this? or is it conjecture that that is the direction he fired in? Could he have fired in the air?
Need more details.
If this was gang related, and this man brought the attack on his own family, then started shooting down a crowded street at his enemies...
Consider if your family were walking down the same street he was spraying, all as part of gang activity.
Morin needed better gun control.
Once they retreated he was to stop firing.
Where he went wrong, “I want to speak to my lawyer and I have nothing further to say until I do.”
THAT is where he went wrong. Never ever talk to the police. They’re not there to help you.

You just demonstrated the value of the training required for the Texas CHL:
IANAL, but Texas law probably would cover you if you hose them while they are on your own property (trespassing) -- especially at night.
Firing at them while they are on public land, (the street) facing away from you, and retreating rapidly, (no longer a threat) and slinging lead indiscriminately down a public thoroughfare (endangering others) -- are definitely indefensible under Texas law -- as I understand it.

There is probably stuff going on we don’t know about but that aside shooting a gun when you lack the skills to hit your target rather than someone else isn’t a good idea.
Shooting into crowds of innocent bystanders tends to be frowned upon. Even in Texas.
Clearly, not enough.
Judging from the replies on this thread, only 2-3 people found the value of this.

Hang them for violating FR ethics!
My aunt lived in Splendora, Texas. Died in her 90th year.
She kept a pistol at the ready at all times.
Exactly. We owe them no sympathy. It is illegal for foreigners to possess firearms, so I assume this Mexican is an American citizen.
I still vote for repatriation.
Via trebuchet.
Fiancée not wife. ~~sigh~~ I know, I’m so oldfashioned....
These rounds definitely went down a very crowded street.
Yeah? You “definitely” know this or just BS guessing?
When the sheriff arrived with his bathrobe on,
The confrontation was a tense one.
He shook his head and said, "Bubba Boy,
You was always a dense one.
The reckless discharge of a gun,
That's what the officers are claimin'."
Bubba hollered out, "Reckless? Hell,
I hit just where I was aimin'."
And that's the difference: the guy in the article didn't ...
Lousy reporting. Would really like to know what the actual felony charge was. “firing indiscriminately” does not sound like a legal term to me or a proper legal charge. I agree the man made a serious error in judgement.
“Police said Morin and his fiancée have been uncooperative.”
I would be too. Give them nothing.
Ant that is indeed where he erred.
Once the threat leaves, if you give chase, now YOU become the threat according to police.
Mr. Morin was not arrested for defending his fiance, he was arrested for hazarding innocent bystanders with his gunfire
We don’t know what he was arrested for because the article never stated what the felony charge was
OK I hope some of you guys are joking.
You cannot continue to shoot (apparently down a crowded street) after they are running away an no longer a threat.
We cannot condone irresponsible gun handling here on FR.
If a cop would fire down a street like this we would be very mad if he wasn’t fired.
