Caterpillar plans to close a machine production plant in Aurora, putting about 800 hourly employees out of work, the company confirmed Friday.

The Peoria-based heavy equipment manufacturer said in January that it was considering moving production of large wheel loaders and compactors to Decatur and medium wheel loaders to North Little Rock, Ark. Caterpillar will still have about 1,200 workers, including management, engineering and support jobs, in Aurora, the company said.

IL is horrible for business. Just barely ahead of CA and CT.

The good news is that the jobs are staying in the USA. The better news is they are leaving Illinois. You have to hit rock bottom before you can confront the truth. Liberalism destroys all. Sorry for those that $hitcago has $hit on.

The Trib just couldn’t find room to insert the key word “union” in some of these sentences.

So the reality is that 800 jobs are not being cut, but rather are being relocated. Now I feel sorry for the 800 in Illinois. However, I would be relocating to where Caterpillar is relocating to and applying for my old job, or even a different one within the company, in their new location within the country.

You’re right. Our R Gov. is hamstrung by the one-party legislature, He makes a plea for the to start thinking about the people and they introduce another tax increase bill. They aren’t close to rock bottom - they are still on a long drunk.

From the article:

The bold word "Illinois" is mine but that's where Decatur is in this instance.

Caterpillar is also moving their world headquarters from Peoria, Illinois to Chicongo, Illinois. Who knows why? Makes no sense to this stock holder.

This is not “cutting jobs”, it is “moving jobs” to more business friendly areas.

Very close to where I live in the western suburbs. I can’t WAIT to get the hell out of Illinois. I have talked to employers in Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Kansas City and Seattle. I’m hoping I have seen my last of this state by June 1st. We elected a great Republican governor and he can’t run the state because democrats led by Michael Madigan have the state’s finances locked up and won’t pass a real budget with out billions in new taxes. We spend untold sums on welfare for illegal aliens. The liberals want a state wide soda tax. Chicago just had 7 people shot and killed within two blocks of each other in less than a day. Rahmbo wants to create a Chicago ID so illegals can be assured of getting their welfare. GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!
