RUSH: I mentioned just in passing right before the end of a segment that the Twitter storm erupted last night when it was learned the details of the marriage of Mike Pence and his wife, Karen. Leftists are appalled that Pence does not eat in public with women without his wife along. Theyre outraged at this. You should have seen the Twitter storm. He does not attend events with alcohol without her at his side.
Now, let me ask a question. If some leftists had a very, very open marriage well, lets look at the Obamas. Do you know where Barack Hussein O is right now? He is on a deserted island in Tahiti for a month with 54 men. Its the old Marlon Brando estate. Marlon Brando had an island. He was first interviewed from that island by Larry King Alive. And hes been there like a month, hes scheduled to be there a month. We havent heard a word about Michelle Obama, but there isnt any Twitter storm over this.
What if a different leftist couple went public with the details of their open marriage about how each partner sleeps with other people but they trust each other and they have great times together and they raise their kids. It would be celebrated, it would be applauded, the left would think that its a great example of openness and trust and tolerance. But the liberals on Twitter were beside themselves last night when they found out that Pence will not eat in public with women without his wife along.
Well, lets look at the opposite of that. Lets say one night pick your spot lets say at The Capital Grille. Lets say one night Mike Pence is in there having dinner with another woman, not his wife, and somebody in the media sees it, maybe snaps a picture, do you think there might be stories intimating something not right there? Do you think somebody would take notice and think it was odd? Could very well be. Nor does he attend events with alcohol without her. She is his prayer partner. Theyre really lambasting that. And he doesnt go anywhere with alcohol without her.
It sounds to me like you got a couple of really good friends here who protect each other and who do everything they can to protect their marriage. You know, I was mentioning this the first time, and I checked my email, and I got few emails from women saying not cool for a guy to go to dinner, a married guy, with a different woman, just not cool. Right? Tongues would wag.
Anyway, I found it interesting that the left went nuts, particularly feminazis. The feminazis on Twitter portrayed this as Mrs. Pence being a totally, 100 percent subservient. I dont know how you get that out of it, but they did.

RUSH: I got a quick question for you. What is the easiest question in Washington to answer? (singing Jeopardy theme song) What is the easiest question in Washington to answer? Actually its true anywhere, but were focusing on Pence and his marriage and how he wont go out to dinner with a woman without his wife present and all that. Whats the easiest question in Washington to answer?
The one that cannot be asked. Dont roll your eyes. Thats a profundity. The easiest question to answer is the one that cant be asked. Mr. Pence, what were you doing with your legislative aide last night at dinner? If you dont go to dinner with her, they cant ask the question. The easiest answer to a question is the one that cant be asked. Just another way of saying keep it on the straight and narrow, and nobody can hound you. You know where I got that? White comedian Paul Shanklin, as one of the guiding principles of his life. Easier to answer the questions that cannot be asked. So when he goes out (laughing)

RUSH: I was just looking at one of these tweets in reaction to the Washington Post story on Pence refusing to eat with another woman in public without his wife being present. Some MTV personality said thats worse than Sharia. That is so backwards; thats worse than what the Muslims do to women. Thats such an insult to women.
Ha.
Go figure.
Bingo.
Rush makes me laugh when he uses the term ‘White Comedian Paul Shanklin!”. Each time I hear it, there is the default reaction of a tiny shock. “Gasp!..Did he say WHITE Comedian?” Then I know that it doesn’t matter. Many of us have become far too sensitive to hearing any racial description that is not of ‘approved minority in the victimhood hierarchy’.
BO on an island with 54 men? My imagination runs wild. Moochy is probably undergoing counseling for the gender transition.
Once, after a meeting, I innocently volunteered to drive an acquaintance home since his ride couldn’t make it. He declined saying that he never allowed himself to be alone with a woman to avoid the chance for even a hint of impropriety.
I thought it was really wise.
A politician, especially in this day and age with the lying rabid msm, it’s imperative to not leave anything for the gossip mongers.
Mrs. Mountain and I always sit on opposite sides of the table when we're "out", even in a group. We take that "watch your back" bit both literally and figuratively.
Bill Hybels, my former pastor at Willow Creek Community Church in suburban Chicago, has more than once said from the pulpit that he recognizes how much more ‘attention’ Christian leaders get from Satan and his demons than us ‘ordinary’ folks.
He wasn’t bragging; instead, he was commenting on how on guard he needs to be 24/7 - to the point that he wouldn’t have a meeting with a woman in his office unless there was a female staff member present or sitting outside his open office door. He wouldn’t even ride in a car with an unaccompanied woman.
So, I say, ‘Good for Mike Pence and his wife.’ They obviously have a strong marriage that is steeped in their shared faith in Jesus, and recognize temptation and ways to avoid it.
I have an “open door” policy.
Which is to say I never meet with anyone behind a closed door unless it’s a group.
If only more politicians were more aware of situations they put themselves in. The cry ‘nothing happened’ would be more believable.
I thought I heard the Rev. Billy Graham had a similar policy, of not meeting alone with women. I’ve heard of other people also being careful about being alone with the opposite sex.
Concepts of people gossiping, and that people might succumb to temptation, are things to think about. Sounds like Mike Pence is doing just that. Why would anybody be critical of wanting to be sure of not being fodder for gossip, and taking positive steps to be faithful in a marriage?? Where the heck are these critics coming from on this??
I doubt it very much.
He’s not just wise, he’s very wise.
When he was starting his ministry Billy Graham had an advance team that would enter hotels where he was going to stay to make sure that no women were hiding in the rooms or lurking about.
At the time that probably seemed weirdly paranoid. But given some of the scandals that have occurred, extremely wise in retrospect.
No one should pay any attention to these idiots
This is not because he doesn’t trust her or even that he doesn’t trust himself.
He probably does this for the same reason Billy Graham wouldn’t even get on an elevator alone with a woman other than his wife.
It is to remove ANY occasion for tongues to wag in scandal, or to prevent even an APPEARANCE of impropriety.
It is a VERY sensible and appropriate policy, and protects his wife, his marriage, and himself from scandal.
If he chooses Choice A, the Left would criticize him.
If he chooses Choice B, the Left would criticize him.
The moral of my story: No matter what any Republican or Conservative does, the Left will criticize him.
I could not have said it any better
They do this because it’s not about any one issue.
It’s strictly about maintaining a state of chaos and agitation, with the ultimate goal being to regain and maintain power.
I couldn’t agree more.
Well said.
