Under extreme pressure from conservative activists, House Republican leaders and the White House have restarted negotiations on legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
But efforts to revive the legislation in the House could take weeks, lawmakers conceded, as Congress moves forward with a full plate of other time-consuming issues. And the renewed push did not meet with much enthusiasm from Senate Republicans, who said they had other priorities at the moment.
Nonetheless, Speaker Paul D. Ryan vowed to renew efforts to repeal the law, despite lasts week crushing setback when House Republicans tossed aside a repeal bill because they lacked the votes to pass it.

Nope, the GOP owns it now. They set out to replace it, and failed. The Democrats will propose an endless set of changes they say will improve it - witness Bernie's claim he's going to propose single payer - that the Republicans can't get behind. And when Obamacare finally collapses then the Democrats will point fingers and say that they tried but the Republicans let it die.
The replies to your Tweet show people paid no attention to what Trump actually promised during the campaign, and if they get their way, Trump will be a one term President.
Just when did we try a free market? You have merged two separate things you say everyone needs care and then you say everyone needs coverage. Are you speaking of healthcare and of health care insurance? If so, they are separate issues in the same way automobile insurance and car maintenance and repair are separate issues.
Healthcare need not be expensive and would be much cheaper and accessible without government meddling. Yes a free market would make care cheaper and affordable.
Insurance is something to be purchased to protect against financial disaster. Healthcare insurance is no different in form than any other kind of insurance. It too should be left free of government meddling.
You are keeping the benefit....but now in cash. Worked great pre-1945...promotes competition and works good for companies like Whole Foods: http://khn.org/morning-breakout/dr00024371/
It’s a tax code problem.
People have no idea how Medicaid works. It’s rationing.
If I’m on Medicaid because I’m forced to have insurance and can’t afford to pay for the outrageously expensive bare minimum plan because the insurers all pulled out of the market except one or two, then I’m forbidden to use my HSA at 99% of the doctors or specialists who don’t accept Medicaid.
The few doctors who take Medicaid aren’t doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. They’re the screw ups. Multiple offenders just shy of getting their licenses revoked. Or they don’t want the overhead dealing with multiple insurers, and practice in a low income or rural area.
What “letting it collapse” will do is implement the same exact thing for Medicare patients. You’ll make an appointment to see your doctor (three month wait), and by the time the appointment rolls around, you’ll show up to see he/she doesn’t accept Medicare or any of your Med Supp plans. And due to regulations, you can’t even pay cash for the appointment. Your care will be denied right at the reception desk. because no doctor or medical group will risk those fines.
When you take away the financial incentive to practice medicine, you also take away the right of the practitioner to set or adjust pricing. That power is in the insurance companies who will lower reimbursements and continue to jack up premiums and deductibles.
I'm getting shafted. Even if my employer did increase my salary by an equal amount that would be taxed as income. Also my premium went up about 4% over last year. Three years ago it actually went down. I'm not faced with the 20% or 30% or higher increases that people in the open market face because my employer self-funds health care costs and contracts with a company to manage it for them. Since they are dealing with a smaller population to ensure, they can better estimate costs. By providing it as a benefit they have no problem getting the younger and healthier employees to join. It's a win/win for my company and me, and one you would take away from both of us.
Let’s not kid ourselves. These cowards are trying to sell it as “repeal” but it is not.
It will be a refashioned version of a “repair” bill that they trotted out last week.
Start with COMPLETE REPEAL and then let’s talk.
Screw “replace.”
Repeal Obamacare and get rid of as many government created market distortions as possible. For instance, allow sale of policies across state lines.
There were 21,995,000 employed by federal, state and local government in the United States in August
When I took the Quote of 22-24 million Federal Employee’s from a CNN Article I forgot to check to see if it was FAKE NEWS. Apparently the CNN Article was FAKE NEWS. A simple additional order can remedy the situation.
All States that do not have 100% of their Public Employees enrolled in the Affordable Care Act, shall receive NO Medicaid Reimbursements or matching funds.
"Effective as of Dec. 31, 2017, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is repealed, and the provisions of law amended or repealed by such Act are restored or revived as if such Act had not been enacted," the bill states.
Mo Brooks is a member of The House Freedom Caucus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ask your Congress Critter to co-sponsor the bill and sign the discharge petition for US Representative Mo Brooks's bill titled, "Obamacare Repeal Act"!!!!!!!!!!!
“Letting people keep their own money is keeping the feds out of the business.”
The feds deciding which people get the tax breaks is NOT keeping the feds out of the business.
As long as the tax breaks are open for all there should be nothing to complain about.
“It is far better then any program that the Feds can put together!
As long as the tax breaks are open for all there should be nothing to complain about.
“
If you give a tax credit, the government is paying for those with insurance. That leads to inflation of cost of goods in the market! No incentive to keep costs down. Go for the Cadillac plan ... the gov’t is paying for it!
What about the guy with no plan that pays cash for services?
So I conclude from your post that you’re in favor of single payer Medicare for all. The Bernie Plan.
Just come out and say it already.
Inflation is caused by Government printing money and expanding credit.
Prices would drop as there would be competition.
The gov't isn't paying for anything, you are keeping your own money with a tax deduction!
Taxes are not the governments money it is the people's!!!!!
Which is why McCarron-Ferguson also needs to be repealed.
But you never even hear the GOP fakers even mentioning that.
Your employer can offer you the group plan to purchase with your health benefit cash (I did say HSA, so no tax on your portion). Premiums are driven down with this move (competition/open market)(the whole point of changing the status quo). Your company could still get a tax benefit for giving you your health insurance cash benefit, depends on how the bill is written. Things need to change, people don’t care about medical care costs right now with most of them on employer managed plans, just “what’s the copay?” (Like “whats the monthly payment” in the car sales industry). When you are using you own cash to buy medical care & insurance it will drive down cost & increase quality. This needs to be combined with getting the govt. out of the market. Affordable/quality care for every working person.
“No, that is not the governments money, which shows what a statist mindset you have!
Inflation is caused by Government printing money and expanding credit. “
YOU TOTALLY MISSED MY POINT!
Because it is a credit people will pay more because the ‘government’ is paying for it!
Why buy the $4000 plan when the you can get the $10,000 plan for the same price .... ZERO ... since you get a tax credit for it all!
Now the dude that doesn’t have insurance but pays the doctor in cash gets NO credit!
