YAKIMA, Wash. -- Police say a Yakima man suspected of assaulting of a 13-year-old girl was arrested while re-entering the country from Mexico earlier this month.
Juan Acevedo-Giron, 22, was taken into custody on March 7 after giving his name to a U.S. Border Patrol officer who saw he had a warrant for his arrest, said Yakima police spokesman Mike Bastinelli.
Acevedo-Giron is accused of assaulting the girl Feb. 9 by forcing his way into her bedroom and threatening her with a screwdriver after she refused his demands to remove her clothes
Police say she was stabbed her in the neck with the screwdriver, choked while her assailant threatened to shoot her and a family member.
Police and SWAT team members later surrounded a house on Roosevelt Avenue, believing Acevedo-Giron to be inside. But he was not found when police eventually entered and searched the home. Police have been looking for him since.
Police say Acevedo-Giron is a gang member who was previously convicted of rendering criminal assistance and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with a September 2015 gang-related drive-by shooting in Yakima. He also has previous convictions for attempting to elude police, unlawful firearm possession and robbery.
Acevedo-Giron is charged with indecent liberties, second-degree assault, felony harassment, unlawful firearm possession and violation of a protective order in Yakima County Superior Court in connection with the February assault.
Bastinelli said Acevedo-Giron is in San Diego County Jail and is expected to be brought to Yakima within a couple of weeks.

Hey - don’t bother. He’s already close to the border. Just tie him up and drag him out to the desert and leave him there for the coyotes - the wild ones. No harm done!
