President Donald Trump said on Friday that he was disappointed that a conservative faction in the House of Representatives blocked his healthcare legislation and said "we learned a lot about loyalty" from the effort.
Speaking in the Oval Office after a stunning political setback, Trump said the healthcare effort was a victim of stalwart Democratic opposition and any future healthcare legislation would likely need Democratic support.
He also said he was surprised and disappointed by the opposition from the House Freedom Caucus, a group of conservatives who prevented Republicans from using their majority in the House to pass the legislation.
Asked if he felt betrayed by the Freedom Caucus, Trump said he did not.

You do realize that the way this bill was set up, senior citizens would be paying much more for coverage, about five times more than younger people. Senior citizens vote. Republicans would lose the House next year had this gone through. This was a terrible bill, very poorly thought out and they are fortunate that both conservatives and some of the moderate “Tuesday Group” refused to vote for it.
If he is a member of the Lovers of Losing I would not bet on it. Not unless he wises up. We don’t need anymore loose cannons screwing up the works.
The Freedom Caucus saved Trump & the Republicans from having the monstrosity known as Ryan Care tied around their necks and from having the burden of Obama Care, which had been dragging them down, taken from around the necks of the ‘RATS. Enacting Ryan Care would have saved the ‘RATS from further nearterm electoral degradation and transferred future negative effects to the Republicans & Trump.
I do not honestly think that they were trying to be spiteful.
I wanted the bill to pass, simply because it would be the start of a long process, and would not be the bill that eventually found its way to Trump’s desk.
However, despite my wanting it to pass for the stated reason, that bill sucked.
I mean it was a flat out insult is what it was, so I really cannot blame anyone for not supporting it.
Even though I wanted it to pass, I don’t honestly know if I could have voted for it were I a congressman.
Ryan is such an ass. Blarg
Well said. I can’t believe the dumbasses that supported this nightmare. Good God, Conservatives my old butt.
Totally agree with everything you said in #8.
I realize nothing of the sort but do understand it has weakened the party by siding with the Democrats. It did many of the things we have been calling for, Rush described some of them today but he was too late in putting out information. One thing he also mentioned is that one of the founders of the Tea Party supported the bill as a step forward and a base to build on.
Few, if any other than Ryan, knows what is in the bill.
Only an idiot would think that he is going to get everything at the first cut.
It is clear that these people cannot be trusted and have no party loyalty.
First thing an editor asks:
“How can we cast Trump and conservatives in the worst possible light in this story?”
Yes.
And I wonder how much of the HFC wanted to genuinely get rid of O-care, or whether they were just being spiteful.

You said it!
“Trump good, Ryan bad” ping!
It won’t matter; he [Dave Brat] cannot deliver except perhaps Nancy Pelosi as the returning Speaker of the House.
LOL. The pro Obamacare 2.0 crowd is so completely unhinged tonight -whether they are paid or not-, that they only make Paul Ryan and his cronies look worse.
Thank God they stood up.. for myself as a veteran.. the hundreds I have served with a met along the way. Thanks to Rep Meadows who outed trump and his swamp care that targeted veterans.
Now will he do amnesty or stimulus next? I can hardly wait.
There aren’t many real conservatives there.
The freedom caucus voted to make Ryan speaker then kill his obamacare repeal plan. I wonder which liberal groups are bankrolling them.
My Rep. Dave Brat has a 100% Heritage Foundation rating because he is sticking to what he promised us when he ran.
Cutting Fedzilla down to size.
Fedzilla has no business making all health care decisions and keeping all medical records.
