Republican officials in Congress and the White House are now openly discussing finding a GOP replacement to Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) as Speaker of the House, after Ryan failed to pass the American Health Care Act out of the House and misled the public and President Donald Trump when he promised repeatedly the bill would pass.
Ryan was caught on an audio file from Octoberobtained by Breitbart News and published a couple weeks agosaying he is not going to defend Donald Trumpnot now, not in the future. While the audio file does not make the comments clear, Ryans staff later claimed that it was specifically about the Access Hollywood tape scandal from the election. The audio tape of Ryan, recorded from a House GOP members conference call, does not make that context clear.
Many allies of the president and several White House officials over the weeks since have confirmed to Breitbart News that the president is concerned that Ryan may not have hisor his agendasbest interests at heart. Ryans failure to deliver the votes on healthcare cement Trumps skepticism of Ryan, they say.

Ryan was basically given a vote of No-Confidence.
He could not whip enough votes for his signature RyanCare Bill.
Jim Jordan is great!
Duncan Hunter is too, but, for some (likely absurd) reason, he is perhaps going to be under investigation.
LS I believe that is EXACTLY what Trump did today, took away whatever power LYIN RYAN thought he had!!! Trump will now take over fixing this DAMNED bill with whoever he needs to work with to make it right!! Keep your eyes on LYING RYANS tax bill though he will still be up to his old tricks and TRYING to limit Trump’s tax cuts, Trump NEEDS to be on top of his tax bill!!!
Pondering.
Yes, that would be very Trumpian.
Ryan just proved to the whole world that he would have been a perfect VP for Romney. All hat and no cattle, sorta like Joe Bite-me.
McCain and Romney were both Designated Losers.
They never intended to win.
So you wanted Ryancare, which was Obamacare rearranged and not repealed.
The Freedom Caucus is run by Mark Meadows, Representative for the 11th District of North Carolina.
Perhaps Cruz has stepped on too many toes, but I think if he were Speaker, Trump’s agenda would move forward like a steam roller.
He’d be like a next generation Gingrich, or like Tom “The Hammer” Delay was as a majority whip.
Boehner was milquetoast. Ryan is proving to be pretty much the same. Too moderate. Too willing to reach across the aisle.
And, unfortunately, a good number of Republicans are just moderate Democrats who were no longer welcome in that party once the “hail Satan” Communist-loving left took it over.
Be still, my heart—if Ryan and Priebus could both be purged—I would start to feel optimistic about this presidency again.
(Instead of anticipating Gang of Eight 2.0 on immigration, and a VAT-lite, uniparty dream on tax reform.)
This.
Cruz is a senator not a congressman !
So you wanted Ryancare, which was Obamacare rearranged and not repealed.
No, I wanted a POTUS who wasn’t kneecapped. This puts his entire drain the swamp agenda at risk. Outstanding. This was about way more than kenyancare and sadly some can’t see the forest through the trees.
RINOs are still in the majority. What makes people think they’ll get a decent replacement for Ryan?
Both McCain and Romney gave the office to Obama.
That was the plan of the eGOP all along.
The lazy elite GOP don’t mind being second banana, they still get their perks and chance to become multi millionaires and blame it all on the dems while the smile and collect their graft.
The Freedom Caucus is run by Mark Meadows, Representative for the 11th District of North Carolina.
The incredible shrinking man. He’s a nobody today and will be a nonperson next time Trump needs votes. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. The “freedom caucus” is about to find out how irrelevant they are.
Either one could legally be eligible to be Speaker.
You don’t have to be a member of the House to be speaker.
He only wanted to be begged to be speaker so he could have total power.
I don’t!
Remember Ryan got the job because no one wanted it.
