Rand Paul cheers conservatives’ blockade of Obamacare repeal

Sen. Rand Paul praised House conservatives for blocking the Obamacare repeal bill Thursday, but said the White House could easily break the impasse if it would agree to send Vice President Mike Pence up to preside over the eventual Senate debate. Mr. Paul said that would give Republicans a chance to head off the parliamentarian and reinterpret the budget process rules that have tied GOP leaders’ hands in what kind of bill they’re able to bring to the floor while avoiding a Democratic filibuster. “That alone I think would break the logjam and get things going,” Mr. Paul, Kentucky Republican, told reporters. Having the presiding officer reject the parliamentarian’s recommendations for interpreting budget rules would be an aggressive maneuver that would break decades of Senate precedent, though it has happened in the past.

No, you and I both know there are plenty out there. Quit telling everybody that the lying leftist media sometimes might tell the truth. Why should we have to pick through 90-95% b/s to find that something that might be true?

The presumption is they are not telling the truth unless they provide clear and convincing evidence to show otherwise. In the meantime, if we want to post something, we should go find what we in good-faith believe is a good source.

Actually, I don’t know they are out there. I post a lot of threads. I get sick of seeing FAKE NEWS posts here posted..Breitbart..Fox News..Zerohedge...sometimes that Sundance site...

Name some that won’t elicit the FAKE NEWS response and I will conduct an experiment.

Once you narrow it down..you might have one or two where people won’t claim FAKE NEWS..and that leaves a lot of news uncovered.

Instead of posting the steady stream of endless leftist media’s published lies, we on FR should find and post reliable sources that have already deconstructed the lie (or confirmed what is true) and replaced it with the truth and with a headline that says the truth.

Some of us are perfectly capable of reading stories from the Washington Post or New York Times and separating the truth from the bullsh*t just fine on our own without needing the grownups stepping in to do it for us.

Start with ANYTHING other than the list I provided. Narrow it down from there. Maybe not a lot. Means we need to pray for the right people to get into the media.

Maybe it is also up to us to work on sniffing out what is b/s in those outlets we might be using.

Again, what I am saying is there are certain outlets - at least the ones I provided - that have proven themselves to be liars and should not be believed and generally, IMO, not posted. If one of them happens to accidentally stumble on the truth, I don’t think FReepers should be berated for assuming their story was a lie. If the outlet is one of those on the list I gave, that should be the presumption IMO.

Yeah, but the steady stream of almost endless Leftist media’s published lies posted on FR often has no redeeming value, gets people pissed off and possibly demoralized, and seems sometimes to even strengthen the lie.

IMO, we should be mostly publishing the truth on FR, not the lies, and as much good news as possible to bolster morale. We should find and post reliable sources that have already deconstructed the lie and replaced it with the truth and with a headline that says the truth. We need much more of that on FR IMO. The key is the headline and the first few sentences because not everyone has time to drill down. The endless stream of negative, lying headlines sabotages our purpose IMO.

I wonder if Rand Paul and some others used the chance to do one on ryan... and their reasons could have been personal.. it’s possible they don’t like him and don’t like the fact he got the position.. Just a guess.. I didn’t know that many in the rep house were true conservatives...

But yet I posted an article from NY times that said Ryan didnt have the votes..was going to the WH to tell POTUS...and post after post after post screamed it was fake news.

It wasn’t . Ryan admitted he didn’t have them and went to tell POTUS.

You can’t claim everything is fake news just because it is at the NYTIMES or not on your approved media list.

And if you will name me JUST ONE media outlet that you will accept that posts no FAKE NEWS..I will show you a thread from that site in the coming days where people here claim FAKE NEWS.

Give me a site and I will do an experiment

Have I said anything a “fake news”? No. That is not my point. There will always be wrong things that are reported.

The two things I offer is

1) The list of known intentionally lying media operatives who worked for the DNC during the campaign. We should avoid posting from those decrepit sources.

2) Don’t harangue FReeprs who presume those media outlets are lying.

Well, I guess you aren’t going to give me example of media outlets that should be used for FR in which people won’t scream FAKE NEWS.

Today is an example where the NYTIMES was right..but people refused to believe it.

I am sure there are many more times when they have been right but people are just in denial

Instead of automatically screaming fake news..people should be considering where something could be true.

I've said it's more about the outlets we shouldn't be using and I gave a list. NYTIMES was right..but people refused to believe it

Those people should be praised not berated.

I'll say it again - if the outlet is one of those proven to be intentional liars from the campaign, like the NYT, then we should avoid posting form that outlet and FReeprs should not be berated for presuming what they publish is a lie.

Some protections have to be put in place to keep those who obtained insurance that had pre-existing conditions and have been paying their premiums to be able to keep their insurance.

After a clean repeal... the Democrats will HAVE to step up and work with Republicans to fix issues like the above. And I believe they will, but ONLY if Obamacare is repealed in it’s entirety first.

Repeal Obamacare (”Obamabuse”) with the goal of getting the feds out of the healthcare business altogether. Although certain protections like the one you mention should be part of the ramp-down, it should be a speedy ramp-down. I don’t really care how or what it takes to get there and/or what kind of political maneuvering will be necessary.

My concern is that so few understand the goal itself - that healthcare must be in the market economy free of government interference. If you don’t have the right goal, you’ll never reach it.

Repeal only and let THE FREE MARKET ECONOMY run the show!

I believe that was tried and so we got Obamacare. There was things like pre-existing conditions, and no out of State competition.

No, to the extent the federal government is involved, to that extent the open market is not and the feds have increasingly and unconstitutionally inserted itself in healthcare since the 60’s. Obamacare (”Obamabuse”) was just the next step towards complete government takeover.

The last time you saw healthcare being run by the voluntary cooperation between buyers (patients) and sellers (doctors) in the open competition of the marketplace was in the 60’s when we had the best healthcare in the world.

Had the GOP submitted a simple repeal then Paul would have been a supporter. But Ryan and Trump tried to replace one terrible plan with another terrible plan. So Paul blocked the replace. He didn’t block the repeal.
