President Trump delivered an ultimatum to House Republicans on Thursday night: Vote to approve the measure to overhaul the nations health-care system on the House floor Friday, or reject it and the president will move on to his other legislative priorities.
The president signaled that the time for negotiations was over with rank-and-file Republicans who were meeting late at night on Capitol Hill to try to find common ground on the embattled package crafted by House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.).
The move was a high-risk gamble for the president and speaker, who have both invested significant political capital in passing legislation that would rewrite the 2010 Affordable Care Act. For Trump, who campaigned as a skilled negotiator capable of forging a good deal on behalf of Americans, it could either vindicate or undercut one of his signature claims. If the measure fails, it would mean that Obamacare something that congressional Republicans have railed against for seven years would remain in place.
Disastrous #Obamacare has led to higher costs & fewer options. It will only continue to get worse! We must #RepealANDReplace. #PassTheBill, Trump tweeted from his official White House account as the meeting was wrapping up Thursday night.

Just out of curiosity, has the drug problem gotten better or worse in Wisconsin since Ryan became Speaker?
“hes willing to destroy the GOP for this lunacy..just let Obamacare die, and later on come up with a good health care bill that will benefit everyone”
REPEAL! Don’t “let it die”. It will NOT die! The freeloaders are in tens of millions. They will NOT let it “die”. REPEAL. And don’t “replace” with a “better” version, which does not exist.
Can you make up your mind on this subject?
Sarah these BASTARDS don’t give a damn about ANYONE but themselves!! Ryan would have been happier if HELLARY were POTUS he still gets all his goodies wouldn’t bother him a bit!!! Trump IS THERE to drain the swamp ANYTHING Ryan can do to prevent them getting their goodies cut off he WILL DO!!! This government is ALL ABOUT the LOBBYISTS and the lobbyists greasing their SLIMEY paws!!!! The ONLY damned person in this entire SWAMP that is for the people is Trump, because he doesn’t NEED their SLIMEY money!!!
Ryan is holding tax relief hostage until his government version of obamacare is passed.
“Its called capitalism”
It is a marxist word. Stick to free market.
Needing 60 to overturn this thing is complete and utter hogwash and an argument used widely by the GOPe. Ryan himself (when he was busy trying to overturn it during the last admin) said over 85% could be overturned through budget reconciliation. Want to know why? Because every damn trigger and I mean every single regulation underpinning this law is a budgetary item. Because to enforce said regulation you have to fund the necessary staff to enforce it! So yes this thing can be completely overturned in its entirety. The only problem is gullible people have bought the kinnard (including Trump) that 60 is required.
Washington Post, so how do we know their interpretation is right, when they are the master of fake news?
“10 Dem Senators in red states”
In Trump states. Huge difference.
If this doesn’t pass the House
RYAN FAILS
and THAT IS WORTH IT.
Then Trump can ask the House to come up with a new better House Speaker.
ok. Win Win. I’m down with that!
“the alternative is to resurrect the bill Obama vetoed.”
That bill needs 60 votes in the senate.
Here’s a plan:
1- Pass the Ryan bill now
2- Try to win 60 seats in the midterms
3- If step 2 succeeds, pass the full repeal.
Doing nothing may turn out to be a historic opportunity flushed down the drain.
He is good with numbers. And as an accountant I appreciate that. But he is a believer in government solutions, not the free market.
I’m being nice by just calling him Ryan. But he is saying that tax cuts can’t happen until healthcare is passed.
If we can’t get a vote on this Bill Friday
Then Ryan should resign.
Win Win
Then we get someone who is a real conservative who supported Trump before it was cool to do so.
then we
NUKE THE FILIBUSTER AND REPEAL ODUMBICARE.
Nuke the Filibuster and you need 51 votes not 60.
If the bill doesn’t pass, Ryan’s speakership is effectively over. If he can’t pass a bill through a Republican House, he is an impotent Speaker and can not lead.
I get the feeling this is what Trump wants, a Ryan failure and a more Trump friendly Speaker to rise.
I like to think that Trump is a big picture guy. But he didn’t hire Ryan so he needs to watch him.
Solution 3
1) Purchase Turtle a set of balls, and reverse the filibuster for only this one bill.
2) Pass the repeal and Separate replace bill.
3) Put filibuster back in place. You know the dems would do it.
Case solved, repeal and replace, Very simple Everyone happy.
//////
Tell Trump to tell Ryan.
except I wouldn’t put back the filibuster till it looked like we would lose the Senate....and even then, once you lose the senate the other party can nuke it anyway...so nah I wouldn’t ever put the filibuster back. NUKE NUKE NUKE.
Thats what i’d like to see to....Get Pence to sit in and take charge of the Senate......but i’d also like for Trump to “persuade Ryan” to relinquish his speakership to someone more conservative or we will continue to suffer from his Rino Ways and Means.
I would agree that Ryan is the one hurt most by this. But it really reflects on a fake GOP legend that they had this grand plan back in 2012 to replace Obama-Care. No, they never had such a plan....it was just trash talk.
Trump is correct...if it won’t pass, then move on. Let Ryan stand there in a weakened position. The Democrats would be wise not to talk about this in any way....because the woeful Obama-Care package is still standing and costs go up every single year...so there is nothing to brag about.
