“the alternative is to resurrect the bill Obama vetoed.”

That bill needs 60 votes in the senate.

Here’s a plan:

1- Pass the Ryan bill now
2- Try to win 60 seats in the midterms
3- If step 2 succeeds, pass the full repeal.

Doing nothing may turn out to be a historic opportunity flushed down the drain.

See 167 the requirement for 60 votes was and always has been a complete and utter falsehood. In addition the leader of the President of the Senate through rules can decide what is under the auspices of budget reconciliation and what is not. That is within his power to do so

Big if. Look at the congressional election results for 1994 and 2010 to see what happened to their hold on Congress the last two times presidents tried health care reform. Why expect 2018 to be a different story?
