GOP House leaders delayed their planned vote Thursday on a long-promised bill to repeal and replace "Obamacare," in a stinging setback for House Speaker Paul Ryan and President Donald Trump in their first major legislative test.
The decision came after Trump, who ran as a master dealmaker, failed to reach agreement with a bloc of rebellious conservatives. Moderate-leaning Republican lawmakers were also bailing on the legislation, leaving it short of votes. [...]

"This will make your supporters hate you.
But then, I will take your place in four years."
I’m glad they delayed it. This is not the right bill. It would have sunk and it would have been worse than delaying it. Now, hopefully they can work to some agreement and be done with it.
Gotcha. I was just reinforcing what you said.
I was going to sent Nan a snotty note...and then I recalled my tagline.
You are either a socialist or a corrupt hack.
No sane, responsible adult I know wants an entitlement. We need to get back to where we buy our own policy for healthcare with no Gov control same as auto and homeowners policies.
For all of the people saying: Just repeal Obamacare! There aren’t 60 votes in the Senate to do that, so what’s your solution? Do nothing? If any pro-market reforms are going to happen then you have to please the Freedom Caucus AND the entire Senate caucus. This bill is better than Obamacare in a million different ways. If you truly want free market healthcare, primary all of the RINOS and get 60 seats in the Senate. Since that isn’t realistic this is the best you are going to get
All of the things people want on this thread are great, however they require 60 votes in the Senate. You can’t just REPEAL OBAMACARE as it will never get past a filibuster. This has to go through the reconciliation process
It wouldn’t matter if 100% of the people understood it after you explained it. ABC would still report it this way.
Keep tryin. Don’t know one person who uses that term. It’s Ryancare or Obamacare-lite.
Makes sense.
Just listened to Joe Walsh, former member of the Freedom Caucus, and he made the point that ALL of these pubbie Congresscritters have campaigned on REPEALING Obamicare not tweaking it! Amen!!
The Republicans are ignoring their conservative wing, as they’ve done for a decade at least.
They’ve all got to work together now and that’s a new thing.
Yeah: ‘simplistic’ but I think the RINOs are not recognizing their loss of power. After all they’re still the largest single group in the House Republican Caucus and still feel they should be treated as the ‘big dog’. But without Dem votes they now HAVE to bend to the conservatives to get bills passed.
The Ryan Trump plan IS Obamacare. It is Socialized medicine. Period.
I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like the Trump administration needs to get more serious about keeping campaign promises and helping the people who voted him in.
You’re right about being wrong.
Trump has fulfilled more promises in his first 60 days than republicans have in total since Reagan.
Obamacare not repealed day one and Hillary walking around free still are just the start of things I see as disappointing already.
Keep trying? Get real. I’ve heard Dems. on Fox use it over and over. I can imagine what they’re saying on CNN, MSN, etc. I don’t like it either but that’s how the Rats are.
Bump! And screw the concern trolls.
