The White House gave the House Freedom Caucus a final offer as it tries to win support for a bill to repeal and replace parts of Obamacare, but the conservative group's leader said no deal was reached by Thursday afternoon.
The lack of an agreement throws more doubts on a planned Thursday night vote on the legislation. The conservative contingent has threatened the bill's passage, as its members have said the GOP plan does not go far enough to repeal the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
President Donald Trump met with the contingent earlier as he and House GOP leaders aim to rally enough support. Following the meeting, though, Freedom Caucus chairman Rep. Mark Meadows told reporters "there are not enough votes" to push the legislation through yet.

I do account and can consider it a failure but the reality is as much as they could stand against him it wouldn’t have prevented him from getting there as they were too small in numbers.
That situation I don’t think is comparable to a legislative effort.

Trump’s sweeteners to the Freedom Caucus brought them around. Well, except for 5 or so of the more libertarian ones.

Ryan had set as one of the conditions for his acceptance of the Speakership that he receive the backing of all caucuses. The Freedom Caucus had the power to prevent him from assuming that office, and instead they gave him a super-majority:

I recall very clearly your unequivocal support for President Trump in the Primaries. Trump has backed the continuation of Nationalized Healthcare with his own name attached to it.
You can’t be such a weasel that you’d accuse other people of a lack of conservatism when they preferred a candidate who was stronger for full Repeal?
Let’s pick our battles wisely and fight back, What good does it do to die on this hill, there’s a hundred more hills to take after this one. But they won’t be taken if the enemy can so easily divide and conquer us.

Who is "we?" Do you control an army of voters somewhere? Trump was only successful because he gave voice to people who felt unrepresented. If he starts resorting to RINO half measures, he will fail also.
My understanding is the Senate is cutting out the Federal Gov and Maternity,etc.
