Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump and House Republicans are still scrambling to reach a deal on legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare ahead of what is expected to be a dramatic vote Thursday.
House Speaker Paul Ryan held a long meeting Wednesday night in his office with moderate Republicans. Cameras from networks were set up for possible reactions and readouts, but it was clear leadership had no good news to share. With the exception of a few members who rushed away without speaking to press, all leaders, including Ryan, ducked out using side exits.

Yes.
Can we hang this on Ryan (Ryancare)?
I wish to hell they had merely called this what it is:
"An Act to Defund Obamacare".
That's how it should have been presented, and that's what it should have been called.
I doubt seriously the MSM will go for that in the long run.
No, of course not. They will do everything they can to oppose and obstruct the destruction of their god's precious Obamacare legacy, to their own demise.
(The will of the people be damned)
worth not repeating
Obamacare does not require a vote. The Democrats own it, and it will sink without any help (or vote) from us.
The insurance industry reps and GOPe sycophants in this forum have outed themselves yet again
Now that’s a perspective I hadn’t thought about.
It’s easier to whine and complain about someone else’s work than to do your own.
MEMO TO MARK MEADOWS: Stop grandstanding and start doing something for the country. Don’t be partisan!!
Just saying putting a group sans conservative party members behind closed doors to craft a bill, then limiting amendments is the way democrats do a major piece of legislation.
First this repeal and replace should have been crafted years ago, and updated on a yearly basis. Then, when Donald Trump was elected they take it to his team and get their input.
So Ryan goes to Trump and says this is the best you’re going to get. Now we see the backlash from the Freedom caucus. The bill does not get government out of healthcare.
THE RINOS ARE KILLING OUR BILL!!!Trump and the real conservatives made a “deal” . The drafting was all that was left. Then PAUL RYAN APPOSES BECAUSE IT DOESN’T HAVE ENOUGH OBAMACARE?
RINOS KILLED IT!! RINOS KILLED IT!! THERE WAS A DEAL!!!
It was, the author is DHHS Secretary, Dr Tom Price....anxiously waiting for his crack at reforms in step two.
So Ryan goes to Trump and says this is the best youre going to get.
I don't know if he said that, but this type of bill (budget reconciliation) can be done with very little RAT interference. 51 Senate votes and very limited debate...no filibuster. It can only make fiscal adjustments, in this case....DEFUNDING Obamacare.
Now we see the backlash from the Freedom caucus.
Actually DJT meeting with the FC, gaining their support, understanding this is only the first step.
The bill does not get government out of healthcare.
No, but it rips the guts out of tax-dollars paying for it.
I see President Trump said if Ryan can’t deliver the votes on healthcare, he is moving on to tax reform. I agree with you that President Trump has had good meetings with the Freedom Caucus. Now if only the establishment republicans could treat conservatives as equal partners.
buying insurance across state lines, which is not in this bill.<<< nicely analyzed. thank you
That is a real big wish. I'm afraid that just like the RATs, the RINOs need to be dealt with by defeat, not compromise.
I thank you.
Agreed. Next year hopefully we can extend the winning streak here in Ohio by getting rid of Sherrod Brown in the Senate. I had a real nasty exchange with him once over immigration.
