Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump and House Republicans are still scrambling to reach a deal on legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare ahead of what is expected to be a dramatic vote Thursday.
House Speaker Paul Ryan held a long meeting Wednesday night in his office with moderate Republicans. Cameras from networks were set up for possible reactions and readouts, but it was clear leadership had no good news to share. With the exception of a few members who rushed away without speaking to press, all leaders, including Ryan, ducked out using side exits.

"But there will be a Phase Two and Phase 3" my ass!
You planning on living to 1000?
Who says it has to be replaced? The whole problem is government involvement in health care in the first place. They have no business in it. As long as the federal government controls health care they will control you.
Rand Paul should have a few of his supporters tell Ryan they will vote for his plan and then change their minds when it goes to vote.
It won’t get past the Senate.
Yep. All for show.
Trump has enthusiastically endorsed RINO Ryan care as you call him. So what does that make Trump?
In case you have not heard, the Ryan plan subsidizes those who can’t afford insurance, just like Obamacare does. Trump has endorsed Ryan’s plan. You are aware of that?
Trump seems to be going along with entitlement parts.
I am a Trump supporter but you are wrong to say this isn’t at Trump’s feet as well. He’s supporting this damn bill and trying to push it down our throats. This is not what we elected him for. I’m sick of hearing repeal and replace. Republicans had a bill that was repeal only last year but it failed. It would pass now so why won’t they bring that bill up again? You guessed it, that don’t want this crap care repealed, and apparently Trump doesn’t either.
I mean, the main thing he talked about on the campaign trail was buying insurance across state lines, which is not in this bill. And trying to tell us they’ll “work” on that part later is the same as “we’ll have to read the bill to see what’s in it.” No thanks.
It’s all theatre to make the Freedom Caucus look like they’ve wrung substantive concessions from those nasty establishment RINOs. The outcome, however, is a foregone conclusion.
You bring up excellent points and are right on.
I’m with Rand Paul’s plan all the way. They can stick Ryancare where the sun don’t shine.
The reason the Rand Paul plan has less votes is because Republicans want to keep Obamacare, they’re just calling it by a different name.
Why can’t people see that? And who in the hell in their right mind trusts Paul Ryan, especially on here!
True, but for the wrong reasons. The Senate will emasculate the bill of its Freedom Caucus provisions. They’ll pass a bill similar to Ryancare. The bill will go to conference comprised entirely of establishment K Street suck-ups. The bill will be passed with threats and payoffs to recalcitrant members of congress, and signed by Trump.
You heard it here first. The fix us in. It’s a done deal.
What a shame.
They are losing the RINOs in the effort to get the conservatives.
It wont get past the Senate.
Winner!
A vote for the Ryan plan is a vote for covering illegal aliens and keeping Obamacare.
Good. Why go against everything you are supposed to believe in and leave your own party owning a fiscal disaster. It’s the king of bad ideas.
The Dems are already saying “Trumpcare”.
Pretty soon “Obamacare” will not be uttered.
