White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Wednesday defended the decision to give Ivanka Trump an office in the West Wing, saying that the first daughter is going "above and beyond" to comply with ethics standards.
Ivanka has decided to go above and beyond and act in certain ways to ensure she complies with certain rules, by maintaining the federal records act, getting a security clearance so that if shes privy to any information that is classified, she has to abide by the same rules and regulations about being in room, how its handled, et cetera, Spicer said during his daily briefing.
He also defended a tweet then-President-elect Trump sent out in November, denying reports his children would be getting security clearances. Ivanka Trump has since applied for one.
At the time it was not true, I mean, she wasnt obtaining a security clearance," Spicer said. "It was not accurate then. We addressed it during the transition. An official had actually just inquired, there was no actual attempt at the time. The official in question was removed from the transition team. "No paperwork was ever drawn, no account was ever opened," he added.
Trump's eldest daughter is considered a close confidante of the president and is said to have considerable influence over her father. She and her husband, senior adviser to the president Jared Kushner, moved to Washington in January, when Trump took office.
While Ivanka Trump isn't being given an official position in the Trump administration or any kind of salary, the decision to grant her an office on the second floor of the West Wing next to the office of senior adviser Dina Powell signals her high status within her father's White House.
In her new office, she will act as her father's "eyes and ears" and will provide advice to the president on a sweeping array of topics, her attorney said
Ivanka’s attorney, Jamie Gorelick is the bigger problem.

Now try to defend Gorelick.
I’m sure this is not the first family member of a President with clearance and frankly, in this climate of danger for our current POTUS, I don’t have a problem with this. He needs ppl around him he can trust.
Why? Why is he doing this?
HOw many ‘staff” did MooseShell have - outrageous - and her mother lived in the WH - unprecedented.
Oh , forgot myself. She’s s demoRat - and,cough cough, black/
cripes...gorelick has access to the WH....is Trump nuts ?
who was defending Gorelick ?
Anyone who hires Jamie Gorelick- is NOT ETHICAL
Ivanka- OUT
Sorry Princess
Ping.
They’re both big problems—all around.
Gorelick: both corrupt and not on the same team, as likely as anything setting the Trump’s up for an impeachment excuse.
Ivanka: both a massive liberal trying to impose an agenda to the polar opposite of what people elected Trump for, and an inexperienced exemplar of nepotism, likely with her mix of business interests to open the way for impeachment should the GOP lose the House—which they will if she keeps getting her way on policies.
There really is no excuse for this crap with either her or Jared.
Ping.
AND she will NOT be using a private email server
(he should say that at the end of any discussion)
Ridiculous. What’s the point?
Monica Lewinsky held top secret clearance during Slimeball’s administration.
I can only imagine if Hillary became president & did this for Chelsea.
[Im sure this is not the first family member of a President with clearance and frankly, in this climate of danger for our current POTUS, I dont have a problem with this. He needs ppl around him he can trust.]
Where was all the liberal snowflake outrage when JFK named his brother to AG? I’m sure RFK had clearance (as did Marilyn Monroe, no doubt!).
Chelsea and Ivanka are equivalents to you?
Sorry, she needs to be kept 1,000 miles away from anything to do with Government!
There is no defending Gorick. She is crooked (FNMA) and a liar (the wall between agencies). She is poisonous.
