U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Houston, said that President Donald Trump's repeated claims he was wire tapped by former President Barack Obama could provide grounds for impeachment if a Monday hearing with the FBI director does not produce evidence to substantiate the allegation.
James Comey is scheduled to testify before the U.S. House Intelligence Committee Monday, and Jackson Lee said she expects lawmakers to demand an answer on whether the president had grounds for accusing his predecessor of a crime.
The president tweeted on March 4 to his nearly 27 million followers he had "just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump tower." He reiterated the claim in two more tweets that accused Obama of "a new low" and called him a "bad (or sick) guy."
"If you do not have any proof and you have been saying this for three weeks," Jackson Lee said, "then you are clearly on the edge of the question of public trust and those actions can be associated with high crimes and misdemeanors for which articles of impeachment can be drawn."
Impeachment proceedings against U.S. president Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon were both conducted based on allegations of "high crimes and misdemeanors" one of three impeachable offenses listed in the U.S. Constitution, alongside treason and bribery. Scholarly works, including one by founding father Alexander Hamilton, have named violations of public trust within that category.
Any article of impeachment would originate in the House Judiciary Committee, where Jackson Lee serves as a senior member. That article would be sent to the House chamber for a hearing and a vote, then sent to the Senate, which would either convict or acquit the president. Impeachment proceedings would require Republican support to pass in both chambers, Lee conceded.

SJL was also on local news this weekend railing about the millions of citizens who are going to starve to death because of proposed budget cuts to Meals on Wheels. Wonder how many of these millions she is going to invite to dinner. Every time you turn around in Houston somebody is raising money to “feed the poor”. Getting really old.
Doesn’t anybody know how to open a can of soup and heat it up any more? At least she could start a group that would teach people how to grow their own fruit and vegetables. Can be done with very little space and not a whole lot of money. Feel good programs don’t have to be funded by my tax dollars.

Obama toured the country repeating over and over the price of ObamaCare wouldnt cost more than a phone bill and definitely that we could keep our doctor.
I don’t think you can impeach obama since he’s not president anymore.
It’s going to take at least 8 years to clear out the “Deep State” by Trump, and hire an FBI leader who is willing to stop treating government as favored Animal Farm livestock over everyone else.

This Martian or Maxipad Waters have been screaming Trump impeachment ever since December.
Amazing that not one talking head makes notice of that, giving Trump alone for the Wiretapping allegation. They go to great lengths to describe WireTapping as a physical connection attached to Trumps phone by Obama personally.
It would be nice if an expert described exactly how every phone call made from or to this country is recorded in their entirety and stored wherever, where the can be recalled at will if needed by computer programs that have been created to categorize all calls according to date, location, content, sender or receiver.
How weird is that?
