How Paul Ryan is schooling President Trump on ‘the art of politics’
Conservative Review ^ | 03/18/2017 | Steve Deace

Posted on 03/19/2017 1:09:35 PM PDT by ForYourChildren

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) would like you to have fries with that. Lots and lots of fries.

It’s one of the ways he makes sure he doesn’t have to respect you. Because when you spend your morning obsessed on social media about a tweet that some McDonald’s wannabe sent out about President Trump, it tells Ryan that you are beneath him.

It tells him you a super-sized yokel. For how can you complain about fake news, Ryan asks, when you are so easily titillated by something so banal? Enjoy that lint in your navel, guys! I’ll be over here doing as I wish while you clap like a trained seal at deep-fried click bait.

So yell at him all you want about being a RINO, but Ryan’s also busy owning Trump right now on the fake repeal of Obamacare. ..

Thanks. I agree with your thoughts there too.

Appreciate it.

Steve Deace is a #NeverTrump Ninny from the get go!

He wanted Hillary to win and still wants Trump to fail. He should be run out of town, off the radio and out of Conservative politics, for a start!

His phony Christianity wears as thin as his phony Conservatism.

The only point Steve Deace has ever had is the one on the top of his fat head!

“So yell at him all you want about being a RINO, but Ryan’s also busy owning Trump right now on the fake repeal of Obamacare.”

And therein lies the truth.

Yep. I feel like we let Trump down. He went to Washington ignorant of the process and is getting into the swamp. He's got Pence, Priebus, Ryan, McConnell who are using him and he has to depend on them for process, it's all he has.

Ryan is ultimately a nobody for a simple reason: his constituency doesn’t extend beyond K Street.

That’s rich. Trump was playing at politics and finance in Manhattan before, or close to it, Paulie was born.

You don’t operate in NYC at Trump’s level, without knowing politics.

Ideally this bill should wait until after the 2018 elections where I think the Rs will get more senate seats making it closer 60. If this bill threads the needle that it does pass, many on the right probably won’t be happy. Compromises all around. But if it fails, we may not have to wait too long for ObamaCare to blow up and collapse. Congress would be forced to take action, but what’s behind that door remains to be seen, especially if it happens before the Rs get better control of Congress after 2018.

We don’t know if we get those additional seats. Some of them will depend on how well the Republicans delivered on Trump’s promises. This is a big one.

We have to act on it > IMO.

I understand your point though, and it isn’t an unreasoned one. I do think we’re under the gun here though.

There’s on aspect of this bill that alone would kill it for me.

Ryan once again proposes we shove the full impact of the new plan way off into the future.

Why do that, unless you don’t want to face the music?

That aspect of Obamacare stunk to high heavens, and it does under Ryancare as well.

‘Can a Trump voter be a Trump hater?’

Can a person who voted for McCain, in a vain effort to avoid obama, hate everything McCain stands for?

Can a person who voted for Romney in a vain effort to preclude yet more destruction of the country by America-despising Obama hate Romney’s brand of deceitful liberalism?

I don’t see it that way.

This looks to me like basic tough but fair game theory that Trump is using, which always starts out positive and co-operative.

Considering that tough but fair are words that Trump’s family use to describe him repeatedly, I am convinced this is what he’s doing.

I would tend to agree with you that we wouldn’t know and be lucky to pick up more R. Senate seats in 18, if this was one of our usual Republican presidents. However, I believe the odds are in our favor by 60% or more to pick up 4 to 8 seats since the Dems have many - 24 or 25 seats to defend. And I’m fairly certain Trump will be running the mid-term elections almost like he was running his presidential campaign. I expect he will be in campaign mode from Sept to Nov 2018 working for senate candidates in many states.

Well Trump is giving it the college try by acting on his campaign promise to overturn Obamacare. will see not too long from now what happens good and bad. I also expect Trump every year from now on will be pushing for improvements to the health care if not up to snuff. And mostly, if not all on the conservative side of the health care ledger. It won’t be one year and done. No, not with Trump that some NeverTrumpers may think like Deace here likely does.

We do have some goon omens going for us. As you stated, there are a number of Democrat Senators up for a reboot. Our turn came in 2016, and we did very well.

What you didn’t mention, is that a number of those Democrat Senators are having to face a populace where Trump won in the state. I like the sound of that.

I think Trump is giving it a good effort too. I’m not sure what the end result will be. I may not be happy with it. I don’t expect to get everything I wanted just how I wanted it.

With all that Trump has already done to improve things in general, I read with amusement the folks who post as if they are livid and can’t wait for him to reveal who he really is, as if any person we would have put in there would be perfect.

So far Trump has done a lot better than I expected. We’ll see how it goes.

NeverTrumpers..., the gift that keeps on giving.

Absolute fools.

I trust Ryan to be a RINO. He is GOPe. He is with McConnell. There is nothing to not trust. He is pretty open about his intentions and sympathies. He is a nominal Republican and a substantial Democrat, an agent of the Chamber of Congress. He answers primarily to Thomas Donohue and to the Democrat leadership.
