The rest of the nation couldn’t have cared less when we told them we were being occupied by Mexico. People on this forum laughed and said it was our problem. I responded with no, it’s your problem too. Well, here we are. Like it?
What did you folks think was going to happen when our presidential contenders abandoned the state, and the Republican Party abandoned it as well?
Do you folks not see the Leftist Republican leadership in Washington, and realize it’s flawed policies have pushed California more Left?
What happens when they do it to your state?
We haven’t had a single loud Republican in state or from out of state here other than Trump last year, in 30 years.
We run good people for office here and the party doesn’t lift a finger to help.
We get outspent by 10:1 because the Democrat party does support their candidates.
Then we get FReepers advocating for jettisoning the state.
Not buying it.
FWIW DoughtyOne; I don’t believe, even for a minute, the USA would allow California to secede. It’s just too valuable geographically and would leave a huge gaping hole in our defense. It will NEVER happen.
On the other hand; I’m very sorry to say I left the Golden State 17 years ago because it had gotten so bad both politically and due to the invasion from the South which the left was only too happy to help happen.
Politically, for the right, the state is lost and short of all illegals leaving the state there’s simply no path forward for it to ever recover from its socialist/communist/leftist direction. Washington and Oregon are not far behind but unlike CA it’s mostly due to the infestation of leftist libs in the high density populated cities. As usual, even in CA (away from the farm areas) once away from the cities the population is far more conservative but sadly outnumbered. I fear the same thing happening here in AZ. This last election taught us we are not the conservative bastion we once were.
I think you make a mistake by taking this issue personally just because you currently live in CA. If it hadn’t changed like it did I would probably still live there as well. It truly is a beautiful state and the Southern half has really great weather. The North is fine too but with lots more cold and snow. Maybe that’s why there are so many more conservatives in the North. They have to be made of tougher stock to take the harsher weather. Of course that doesn’t explain IL other than they simply had no choice from birth if they wanted to stay in their birth state. I’m sure once away from Chicago things get better there too.
Cheers and Regards mate!
