Germany Slams Trump's Claim That It Owes Vast Sums
Zero Hedge ^ | March 19, 2017 | Zero Hedge's Trump Hater

The pleasantries, lack of handshake between Trump and Merkel notwithstanding, are officially over.

One day after Trump returned to his favorite medium to slam Germany for abusing NATO's funding scheme, and US defense spending generosity, accusing Germany of owing "vast sums" of money to both NATO and the US, Germany has struck back. As a reminder, this is what Trump tweeted on Saturday morning:

"Despite what you have heard from the FAKE NEWS, I had a GREAT meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Nevertheless, Germany owes vast sums of money to NATO & the United States must be paid more for the powerful, and very expensive, defense it provides to Germany!"

That in turn, was followed on Sunday morning by a statement by German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen in which she responded to Trump, rejecting the US president's claim: "There is no debit account at NATO," von der Leyen said in a statement, adding that it was wrong to link the alliance's target for members to spend 2 percent of their economic output on defense by 2024 solely to NATO.

I was there then and there were lots of ex-NAZIs and their supporters running around - not to mention Stazi menber Frau Muggle and its stooges taking snaps of us on every street corner and from every building.

No one cared what the Germans thought; they lost the war.

Frau Muggle wishes to take ‘her’ people into the Islamic fold to make them genetically stronger and closer in belief to what she and A.S. believed - his “Mein Kampf” was just a Germanized version of the koran.

We want the ordinary racially German to vote her out and deport the muslims, but cutting off aid will only succeed in driving her to bring in more Islamists and make the county fall faster into a second Islamic-caused Dark Age with the rest of Europe and the UK.

If we want forward bases for actions in the Middle East, then basing troops in Italy and Greece woukd make far more sense than Germany. If Russia is the primary opponent, the our troops should be in Poland. Basing in Germany was useful when it was the front line to battle the Soviet Union which disolved a generation ago.

Trump told Angie “time for Germany to start paying the vig”. :-)

The expression on Merkel’s face during her meeting with Trump pretty much telegraphed this message during her visit. Pure hatred.

Looked pretty mutual to me.

How many wounded US soldiers are being treated per month in Germany?

My guess: Zero.

What’s the point of your long-winded post? And what does it have to do with this thread?

Be concise if you wish to be read.

In another post you grandly asserted:

Yes, it’s time to abandon NATO to their fate, no matter what that may be.

For those of you out there that think we should continue membership and continue to honor the treaty, please weigh in with your reasoning.

I did just which you asked, I weighed in with my reasoning. You did not invite us to reply with one hundred and 45 characters or less.

Are you suggesting NATO benefits the US? If so, how?

Idiotic? This is not something I just made up. It was actually proposed by Gen. Patton and disposed of by SHAEF.

Perhaps you would care to look it up.

Then again, perhaps not.

Oh, and I submit that George Patton, knows a little more about infantry than me, or even you, unless you rank him with four stars.

Consider the devastating implications for us today of a Hitler/Stalin pact.

Take a look at the link I sent you.

I didn’t see it here but the Washington Post reported approvingly that the Germans claimed that they spend more than 2% because their welfare benefits to Muslim invaders is “security” spending.

Well then. We can pull out all our troops in Germany then! Their refugees can breed and create a whole new generation of protection for them!

I agree that a Europe unified with Russia would be most formidable.

But I don’t agree that such an entity would be necessarily hostile to the US or its interests.

The US currently has 1550 nukes capable of <100 meter CEP and 98%+ reliability. No matter how big and powerful such an entity became, it would not force the use of such devastation.

"Germany will start another war...always have and always will."

And now you why that the European NATO countries insist
that America remain in Germany. I say America should insist
that those countries that want us to stay in Germany
should pay America directly for that stay.

Two points:

1. The alliance would lead to a larger axis with China and with Muslims who are currently allied with Russia and Iran and Syria. Please take a look at the link.

2. The entity would not force our capitulation but the mothers of America would. The peace movement in America, as in Europe, would gain overwhelming power. Once we are isolated geographically, impoverished for want of trade and beleaguered everywhere, the peace movement takes over and all of the bravado on the threads of Free Republic to the contrary notwithstanding cannot prevail against them.

We could have 10 times as many nukes and it would not matter.
