For a policy for just one individual, if the insurance companies are allowed to offer options of coverage, it does work against you as I said. That what priced so many out.

Well, the IM is what I'm talking about. The same concept is true for the universe of individual/family policies.

Doubtfully you live in an area which has experienced total market destruction as I have, where we experienced up to 300% in premium increases in the IM. (way before Obamacare)

300% absolutely prices people out of the market...not a trifling 1 to 3%.

The Maine Bureau of Insurance has done an in-depth study on the mandated coverages impact, and produced a "white paper" revealing the results.

I had a catastrophic policy with high deductible that was affordable, but covered unforeseen accidents or disease. Then I had to get a policy that covered things I won’t need, so the premium skyrockets and to add insult to injury, the deductible was still high! Scott Pruitt, Rand Paul, and many others have talked about this also, but Ryan didn’t want to take it out. I think this is one of the reasons they aren’t having the vote today. This very problem was discussed at the press conference too. If the government wants to offer this premium insurance to everyone, just have options, and if some poor people can’t afford them, give them assistance if that’s what they think they need to do. I think it would be cheaper for taxpayers and fairer for everyone.
