CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela this week arrested four bakers making illegal brownies and other pastries as President Nicolas Maduro's socialist government threatens to take over bakeries in Caracas as part of a new "bread war".
Maduro has sent inspectors and soldiers into more than 700 bakeries around the capital this week to enforce a rule that 90 percent of wheat must be destined to loaves rather than more expensive pastries and cakes.

It will be government ruined bakeries. Commies could even find a way to have negative production numbers.
The whole thing is bonkers.
Venezuela doesn’t grow wheat - all flour has to be imported using the country’s ever-dwindling foreign currency reserves.
The wheat is provided to bakers who are supposed to produce cheap, baguette-type bread for the locals.
I’m unclear on whether or not the bakers have to pay for the flour. If they do, why should the gub’mint get to them what to do with it? Anyway, 90% for the flour is supposed to be used for baguettes.
But the profit on the bread is very low or non-existent.
So the bakers produce confections with higher profit margin instead.
So, so, so screwed up.
BTW: This is also what “Let them eat cake!” was about.
But this can’t be. Those old communist posters show people happy and singing! Evil capitalist pigs gotta be behind this.
Today, I was pondering what California would look like after another 10 years of rule by the current Supreme Soviet. Upon reading this, I realized there was already an answer to the question.

I've sen stories of people not only going through dumpsters but hunting pigeons in the parks and even stray animals.
Early on there were bands of people who formed hit squads and high jacked trucks delivering food to markets in areas where people could still afford to go shop.
Show me 4 Venezuelan bakers arrested out of 700 that make over 10% pastries to stay afloat, and I'll show you 696 that bribed the inspectors enough, and 4 that did not.
