Immigrants are canceling their food stamps over fears they could be deported.
Food banks and hunger advocates around the country from Tuscon to Baltimore have noticed a decline in the number of eligible immigrants applying for food stamps and a rise in the number of immigrants seeking to cancel their food stamps since President Trumps inauguration two months ago, the Washington Post reported.
Advocates on behalf of these immigrants say that their fear stems from the possibility that Immigration and Customs Enforcement would notice their participation in the food stamp program and deny them U.S. citizenship or deport them.

Advocates for reforming the welfare system say that immigrants, both illegal and legal, have too much access to public benefits and take more out of the system than they pay into it.
I dont think its proper to increase the burden on U.S. taxpayers for people whose only claim to them is that they broke our law, said Robert Rector, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation. These children receive a large amount of benefits because their parents came here illegally.

I'll second that!
No one here legally and legally eligible for benefits would cancel them over deportation fears. Therefore, we are forced to conclude that this is about illegals illegally collecting benefits as a payoff for illegally voting Democrat, and the author is trying very hard to obfuscate the situation.
Illegal aliens are the only ones worrying about anything and if they are stopped from ripping us off further, how is that a bad thing?
Next stop: Welfare Office.
Non-citizens get food stamps??? If they aren’t contributing to the economy (the usual argument), why are they her?
“eligible” only means that illegals are included in the groups that currently can receive benefits. For some damned reason, those who should not be eligible, are receiving! GAAAAH!
are these apples or are they oranges ???

Purposely confused by the Ministry of Propaganda.
We NEVER get the straight story on anything that involves illegal aliens.
Even illegals that “contribute” to the economy need to go. “Contributing” has nothing to do with it.
OMG! Now they’re going to starve. Their babies.....poor babies are going to die. 24/7
Win win!
Holy carp, you have to save that.
The Ministry of Propaganda has outdone themselves this time.
Cry me a river. If these parasites went back to their tropical homelands, they could grow food year 'round in their backyard: tomatoes, chili peppers, watermelons, avocados. Just visit East L.A.—Mexicans have chickens and goats roaming their backyards. Back in Mexico they have so much food that Mexico is a major food exporter.
God point....illegals NOT immigrants.
Does this statement intend to say that "illegal" immigrants are canceling their food stamps over fears they could be deported.
Why would legal immigrants or any other group cancel their food stamps if they are in need?
Seen the same for years too. The merchants and EBT recipients have learned how to abuse the system for profit. Used to they would just buy the coupons for half price. Then they went to the EBT credit card setup and now people just hand their cards to the person in in front of them, let them buy groceries with it, get paid .50 on the $ and repeat. It should piss people off but the sad fact is we didn't do more to stop the abuses. And the majority seem to be foreigners by far.
I agree with you. What I’m saying is that sob stories about “immigrants” who are afraid get food stamps busts the maniacs argument. If they really are “contributing to the economy” they wouldn’t need food stamps.
Ah, I see the devious logic. They focus on the former (a decline in the number of "eligible" recipients), and declare a crisis ("The poor are hurting!"), when in reality the decline in numbers is due to the counts reaching actual, accurate figures.
Of course, this will never be reported as such.
They can eat pinatas or they can 'eff off back to Mexico...
