It wouldn’t be fair to call her Tuesday night show the TV flop seen ’round the world. It was worse than that. Much worse.
It was a gut-punch embarrassment to Maddow, to MSNBC, to NBC and to all the lefties who bought her afternoon tweet that “We’ve got Trump tax returns.” Were she selling stocks, she’d be busted for running a pump-and-dump scam.
Her scoop, courtesy of journalist David Cay Johnston, was two pages from Trump’s 2005 federal return. It showed income of $153 million, and a tax payment of $38 million.
Imagine what was going on with Maddow’s producers and staff. Did anyone dare say to her that we have a problem, that the tax return you’re boasting of actually shows Trump to be a billionaire who pays his fair share?
That’s not what anybody wanted. They came to bury Trump, not to praise him. And so they tried, and failed.

When making a total fool of yourself, you want the audience as small as possible. She pulled a Geraldo and the vault. People will shut her out as a IT that cries wolf.
Did she even bother to read the document before hyping it? If so, she is stupid. If not, she is lazy. She gets paid how much?
It was also her top rated show. She flopped in front of her whole audience and a lot of people who weren’t, but maybe she could have added. We have witnessed “peak Maddow”.
She has viewers?
Doesn’t surprise me. The night Trump won, she sneered with contempt into the camera and said something like, “THIS is what we have become...” but you could tell that she was excluding herself from the lowly rabble. You could tell she was sneering “LOOK WHAT YOU PEOPLE HAVE DONE!” The hatred in her eyes, the superior narcissistic hatred....

She jumped the madcow there. Progressives never take responsibility for failure.
If cops want suspects to talk they need to just leave the room, turn up the volume on the TV tuned to MSNBC, and make the perps listen to Maddow.
The bad guys will be begging for mercy in minutes!
And the real irony is that, even though it belied all their assertions and was useless to their agenda, they opted to use it as a "In your face, we can get your tax returns w/o your cooperation" event and prove that they were willing to commit felonies in their effort to hurt Trump......Priceless!
She got four million viewers out of it, her biggest night ever, even beating Fox.
Her viewers don’t care what she said. They see Trump and millions and corruption and Caligula.
Her producers know she is crazy but...four million viewers.
Not so sure that record viewers is a good thing when the "scoop" falls so flat and makes them look such fools....
For a highly paid person she’s just inexcusably ignorant about tax returns. Anybody who’s ever prepared a tax return knows the basic two page 1040 just summarizes the rest of the return and the real information is in the supporting schedules. If she knew how to read one of the things, she’d have known she had a real nothing burger that actually made PRESIDENT Trump look good. It’s hard to understand why anybody would employ such an ignorant nitwit in a lucrative, highly responsible job like hers.
Maybe we should try that at Gitmo.
