I drive a 2015 Honda Fit EX hatchback that gets 41 mpg on the freeway—on a car that weighs just under 2,600 pounds and has all the modern safety features like multiple airbags, rollover and side impact protection, and no complex hybrid drive system. Proof that technology is outracing the mandates for better fuel economy.
I wish they would roll back some of the others like the one that killed the small pickups like Ranger.

If fuel economy standards exist, they should be in Ton-Miles per gallon.
That would be a true measure of efficiency.
The present system ignores actual vehicle efficiency.
