I remember a “reporter” being put in jail, indefinitely, for contempt of court, refusing to reveal her source.

I would like to see IRS stooge(s) jailed for breaking the law.

I believe that was Judith Miller, who was covering the Valerie Plame case.

In that particular situation, the reporter was not shielded by law because of her role as a third party in a crime. She had written stories about a subject that involved the release of classified information, and as such she wasn't just a reporter ... she was also a witness to a crime.

I'm speculating that this may be the case here, too. Even MSNBC isn't dumb enough to release a person's tax return without making sure their legal bases are covered.
