“Yeah, 1.8% is a joke. So much needs to be cut WAAYYYY back...like cleaning at the IRS, EPA, etc. So much more. All of the useless, liberal bureaucracy that Obama created and inflated. “
And most of that will be taking money away from filling open positions. What needs to be added to that is an immediate 10% cut in budget to every department and that includes the military. They will have to draft their plan to weed out the corruption in the contract game and payment to companies that do not bring in projects on time and on budget.
Oh, dear! What happened to our economy in the decade after the end of WW2? Could that happen to us again under President Trump?
Correct, but there is "political fallout" if Trump coughs without covering his mouth.
Hoorah!!!
7 of the 10 wealthiest counties in the USA surround Washington DC.
It clear to me - for flyover America to prosper, Washington DC must suffer.
Cut every agency by 5 percent.
Do it again.
If you’re making $100k a year, which many would consider a comfortable income, a 1.8% cut is $1,800 a year. That is a mild budget cut . . . comparable to saving just under $5.00 a day (one of your two or three daily Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha venti made with soy milk if you are the typical metrosexual). FedGov should cut much deeper than that, but it’s a start.
executive order 13522,
Monstrous. Amongst the worst of Obongo’s EO’s.The GOP said nothing when he did it. Nothing. You won’t find 12 people who’ve even heard of it.
How may minutes do you think before one of the rinos declare Trump’s budget doa?
Sell DC to the highest bidder as a theme park, move the Capitol to Lebanon KS (70 miles north of I70) and build dormitories and employee housing. Congress critters can telecommute and debate/vote online.
Sessions would be limited to 90 days in the Spring and 90 days in the fall. Between times they can go back and spend time with their constituents.
One has to give themselves migraines scanning every single thread posted here every day in order to not miss anything.
A month ago, DJT brought on a friend from Cerberus (NY), the nations’ biggest merger group. I think we’ll wind up with maybe 8 intel agencies, down from 17, 20% across-the-board budget cuts in the most vicious departments, and maybe even - gasp - congressional staff cuts. 10K staffers work for 535 congressmen.
That’s not 1.8% of the Federal work force. It’s 1.8% of the entire D.C. area employment base. That would be a huge number.
It may be historic but it far less than is needed. How about 10%. Go for it Mr. President. Reduce or die.
From the folks who cheer on businesses having to absorb greater cuts and increased costs...
...and the republicans will stumble all over themselves to keep Trump’s budget from becoming a reality, I’m certain of it.
Great point. The absolute evil of “baseline budgeting” where a cut in the projected INCREASE in spending is considered a cut in general.
That study, I don’t think DC real estate will drop: the newly laid off will list their houses, start bidding wars and actually raise average prices, temporarily. NOVA people buying them up to cut the commute.
Good. Drain the swamp of every Obama holdover in every level of government. Also remove his regulations.
Huh?
Wouldn't those NOVA people be moving there already, if this was the case?
“Thats not 1.8% of the Federal work force. Its 1.8% of the entire D.C. area employment base”
Exactly, people need to freakin pay attention.
