Even with competition, you’re gonna have failing, non-insurance insurance markets as long as you have guaranteed issue and community rating—two key components of Obamacare that the have kept in 2.0.

About the only acknowledged “stinker” they seem ready to ditch from Obamacare is the only good element to it—and that was beginning to tax employer-provided plans like regular income.

That tax deductability is a major wrench in the market that has led to every last shred of healthcare being covered under “insurance”. And making the majority of the private side of the market dependent on third-party payers (the already socialized Medicare and Medicaid are also by definition third-party payers) just leads to massive cost explosion—akin to government funding of student loans in higher ed.

Yeah, I’m beginning to think Ryan-Care stinks too.

And I’m increasingly convinced that Ryan gave Trump a private threat: ‘If you want tax cuts, you best do your darnest to sell my healthcare bill.’

Probably an implied threat, but that’s what I think is going on.
