Symbolism over substance.

Sunday political talk shows

First of all, the Russians seemed to have disappeared from the Sunday political talk show circuit this week!

It was mentioned, but briefly and not all the time, every second.

This is mostly, let’s face the truth folk, because of Trump’s shocking tweet last week that he discovered the Obama administration had been bugging Trump Tower.

Sure everyone’s asking for proof and I’ve no doubt that Trump and company have something.

But it sure shut up that constant drone about the Russians stealing the elections, which was never true.

So there you have it, a quick summary and notable notes on the Sunday political shows made more revealing but what the pundits DIDN’T say then by what they did.

FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; Gary Cohn, White House economic adviser.

Rep Jim Jordan somewhat admirably defended the notion that the health care plan as currently proposed by Republicans is not suitable. While the good congressman is affable and has a nice smile, he didn’t present any CANNOT HAVES or MUST HAVES, telling us, the audience , that legislation must be negotiated in order to notate those items.

MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price; Gov. John Kasich, R-Ohio.

We have John Kasich, he who never met a camera he didn’t like, on and pontificating about all things that are not his concern.

FACE THE NATION (CBS): House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis.; Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=angMgXV2XmI
My goodness Rand Paul is not happy with Ryan’s health care plan although once again, those who don’t like it are very vague about what they don’t like and why.

Not that Paul Ryan was any personification of glibness. He too danced around any request for specifics.

THIS WEEK (ABC): White House budget director Mick Mulvaney; Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark.; Reps. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Elijah Cummings, D-Md.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3G2k_-MqKU
The Sunday political talk show star of today is House budget director Mick Mulvaney.

The biggest thing Mulvaney brought to the argument was a better explanation of this so-called “medicaid expansion” thing.

Seems Obamacare is arranged to have medicaid expand annually across the country to better help the states deal with fiscal issues caused by this massive health care change.

Mulvaney declared that medicaid recipients are normally not lifetime players, that they drop out after a little less than five years.

Well I didn’t know that, assuming it’s true.

Judging by the way Mulvaney handled his interviews today I am very impressed by this Trump pick.

STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Mulvaney; Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Cory Booker, D-N.J.; Reps. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., and Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill. (Note: FINALLY someone from the Trump Admin appears. CNN=Still Fake news!)

I’m going to say something nice about John McCain today because he too never met a camera he did not like.

On his interview today with Jake Tapper, McCain was not too horrid with President Trump, who McCain does not like, that’s been obvious for quite a while.

McCain is known famously as a middle-of-the-road guy, a crosser of the aisles.

He came across as a fair and decent partisan as concerns Trump’s bugging allegation.

Still, one could almost see his eyes rolling around in his head.

McCain wants Trump to fall and crash so bad one can almost see that movie play on his face.
