It’s right before the election, in which Geert Wilders is expected to make big gains in power. This phony toughness will be replaced with mealy-mouthed obsequiousness as soon as the powerful have secured their power, through means fair or foul.

Yes, they got tough because Geert made a big issue about it and got the Dutch people aroused. Rutte normally has no backbone, he’s just doing this because of the elections. I hope the people see through this farce on Rutte’s part and vote for Geert.
