Preet Bharara says he was fired "moments ago." He reiterated that he did not resign his post as Manhattan's federal prosecutor.
"I did not resign," Bharara said in a tweet. "Moments ago I was fired. Being the US Attorney in SDNY will forever be the greatest honor of my professional life."

That’s an overflow drain behind a dam; a more freaky alternative to a spillway.
You find these at reservoirs; nearly always with safety ropes in the water MANY feet away from them to keep swimmers and boaters from being sucked in.
The structures have come to be called “glory holes” presumably because there’s no surviving being sucked down one.

Does this mean no political future for Jindal?
I live in NY and he has been “on the cusp” for an eternity. Show trials at best. They haven’t even gotten around to putting Sheldon Silver in the slammer yet!
And to think he convicted Mr. D’souza in a twinkling of an eye...
Phreet had more in common with Eric Snide-erman than a good guy.
From your keyboard to God’s ears!
Exactly! Good old Shelly Silverman isn’t even wearing orange yet
His political future was long dead years ago for so many reasons. I can’t imagine anyone on FR that remotely knows his history would support him.
That is the fly in the ointment of getting rid of Bharara.
Problem is every time I disagree with the Donald,President Trump, I can't sit down for at least a week. I'm tired of the sore ass syndrome so I am looking everywhere for what I missed about Bharara.
It's either a combination of things like failing to prosecute big banks,Harry Reid,or even pizzagate for all I know. There is a missing link,I just missed it.
Interesting post since up coming prosecution of DeBlasio suggests he should have stayed on and he had gained all kinds of leverage on Cuomo as well. My guess is they made Cumo an informant instead of prosecuting and he is nailing all kinds of people like Silver and others.
Problem is President Trump is seldom wrong and every time I have second guessed him I wind up with egg on my face. So I have figured out I missed the smoking gun or bullets about Preet Bharara and am still looking. Finding a few things as well.
Problem is both Trump and Sessions seemingly agreed to meet with Bharara in either NOv. or Dec. I have seen two different dates now to discuss him stayingon due to up coming cases he had.
Probably dealing with Cuomo and DeBlasio. If that was not in the mix Bharara could have been seen as an unruly child not wanting to do what he was told by his seniors. But its not technically the case.

Preet Bharara said Wednesday that he’ll stay on in his role as Manhattan U.S. Attorney at Donald Trump’s request.
Following a meeting with the President-elect inside Trump Tower, Bharara told reporters he had been summoned to discuss remaining in his position and had made up his mind “to stay on.”
The President-elect asked, presumably because he’s a New Yorker and is aware of the great work that our office has done over the past seven years ... whether or not I’d be prepared to stay on and I agreed, Bharara said.
The crimefighter said he had already notified Trump’s pick for U.S. Attorney General, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) of his choice.

Incoming Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) offered his vote for Bharara.
President-elect Trump called me last week about Bharara, Schumer said. I told him I thought Preet was great, and I would be all for keeping him on the job.
The News reported earlier this month that President-elect Donald Trump would likely ask Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara to stay on. (JEFFERSON SIEGEL/NEW YORK DAILY NEWS)
A source said Trump had also hit up Schumer for Bhararas cell phone number.
“I am glad they met and am glad Preet is staying on. He’s been one of the best U.S Attorneys New York has ever seen,” Schumer said.
................. Excellent catch and I'm beginning to believe that this may well have been the reason Pres. Trump got rid of the front running Bharara.
Great catch Lucy. I’m beginning to think that you, hooisermom and wheniflow have all figured out the smoking gun as to why Pres. trump and Sessions decided to get rid of Bharara. Also someone else pointed out that Trump may also have something else in mind for Bharara. It’s all coming together now.
.......................... Good post.
Where I would disagree is where you claim that Bharara had a future with the dem party.
I think that ship sailed long ago.
From what I have read this is a guy who is equally hated by both side of the aisle.
We hate him for what he did to Dinesh, didn't do to the big banks, possibly hillary, the Foundation and quite possibly the smoking gun the worldwide pedo ring.
The left hates him perhaps more for taking down icon after icon including the Gov. and DeBlasio.
To think that he could run for office after going after huge dems in a party that is all political all the time is probably a bad guess,IMHO.
Good. Drain the swamp. Now he can run for governor full time.

This happens to be the reason I never jump on the Trey Gowdy train.
he’s great for fund-raising, but never closes the deal.
OR SCHUMER.
It is easy then to imagine circumstances in which Bharara could get hired or appointed for such posts even by Democrats who dislike him. Nevertheless, for other reasons than what you suggest, it is hard to see him winning a major elective office. As with most other US Attorneys, he seems unlikely to have the necessary contacts, resources, and skills to be a successful political candidate.
Any political appointee or officeholder who that demonic reprobate Sunni Marxist Muslim Obama creature was okay with keeping around is absolutely no one to keep around.Well put, thanks for not holding back...That goes for compromised Comey as well
