The Obamacare 2.0 bill pushed by some Republicans strips out even Obamacares weak protections preventing illegal aliens from signing up for health care meant for citizens. A draft of the bill, released by the House Committee on Ways and Means, cannot even include bare-bones provisions requiring officials to check an enrollees immigration status, the Conservative Reviews Daniel Horowitz warns, calling it a gift to illegal aliens.
Obamacare included provisions from an earlier bill allowing illegal aliens with fraudulent documents to apply while the government and Obamacare managers looked the other way. Eager for welfare state clients and looking to grease the skids for a massive amnesty down the road, Obamacare navigators signed up thousands of illegal aliens for benefits.
President Obama had already paved the path for illegal alien Obamacare when he signed the massive expansion of the State Childrens Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP) in 2009, conservative author Michelle Malkin explained in March 2014. As Ive reported previously, the law loosened eligibility requirements for legal immigrants and their children by watering down document and evidentiary standardsmaking it easy for individuals to use fake Social Security cards to apply for benefits with little to no chance of getting caught. In addition, Obamas S-CHIP expansion revoked Medicaid application time limits that were part of the 1996 welfare reform law.

#RepealNOW
(Screw Replace)
If illegals are deported the second issue goes away
The GOP is going to swallow this thing hook, line and sinker.
Says this is a result of using reconciliation.
Possibly it can be corrected through administrative tightening on verification.
Most of the Repubs ideas are the same old tired unpopular ones. Six years and this is all they have come up with.
This sounds “wonderful”........./s
Elaboraing, just heard Paul Ryan talking.
This bill HAD TO BE A RECONCILIATION BILL. That’s something that is purely about budget matters — taxes and spending.
Things like selling insurance across state lines and tort reform to reduce doctor liability and stuff COULD NOT FIT IN THE BILL UNDER SENATE RULES.
This is pretty important. He specifically said he wants insurance sales across state lines and tort reform and lots of other things, but they are non budgetary and thus can’t be put in a Reconciliation Bill. The Senate parliamentarian will reject it.
It makes a lot more sense now. He did say these other items will be moved legislatively as seperate bills, but they will face the 60 vote threshold in the Senate.
Methinks we kneejerked too fast. This is a good explanation.
The only illegal aliens being removed are the already ordered deported or felons.
That’s if you believe Paul Ryan, which I don’t.
BTW the Reconciliation explanation also applies to why individual mandate fines were reduced to 0 rather than purge the entire text. That would risk the parliamentarian declaring it is not a budget change and could not move under reconciliation.
It’s not about belief. It’s self evident. Reconciliation is what it is. The parliamentarian during Obamacare was appealed to and forced a considerable scaleback of what they tried.
Same is true here. Reconciliation is pretty strict.
Personally, this is the first draft out of the shoot and I think everyone is really jumping the gun with knee jerk reactions, anger and complete dissatisfaction with something that is just getting started in the process. As the President himself said, this is open for negotiation. Let’s not get our panties in a wad over something that is just beginning to formulate! Rome wasn’t built in a day and this won’t be repealed and replaced in a day. It’s a process and you’ve got the best of the best at the wheel so I’m very confident the final product will be one that everyone is happy with, at least in most regards. I think Paul Rand and the Freedom Caucus are doing more to divide the party than anything and while I understand they are very attached to their recommendations but in my opinion it is time for the Republicans (rinos and all) to sit down and work with each other and embrace a compromise here and there when it is best for the big picture.

One of the GOPs main problems is the KneeJerkers hysterical squawks at not getting what they think they want. Knowledge is unnecessary for them to form a negative opinion
Better to not pass anything and let Obamacare collapse than to own Ryancare.
You, sir, do not understand the Federal Reserve.
Nothing is going to collapse and cause societal destruction if dollars will stop it. The Fed can create dollars. At a whim. If Obamacare’s collapse threatens death, then the Fed will fund it, like they funded banks. It’s completely at a whim. Money lost its meaning in 2010 and it’s never coming back.
You can’t go the direction you want to go. There will be no collapse.
message to President Trump (since the gopes won’t listen). you cannot fix obamacare.
it needs a complete and surgical removal starting next fiscal year, not 2020, from all Laws it tampered with and changed.
in addition. all of it’s supporting bills need to be cleanly repealed too.
then you can look at a separate replace bill.
otherwise the “fixed” obamacare is going to become trumpcare. and that will be the end of what you’re trying to do.
And you do not understand Reconciliation and Senate rules.
They are doing everything possible under Reconciliation.
They’ll move other legislation to do more, but it will fail the 60 vote threshold.
I’m not endorsing Ryancare and have already told Dave Brat he better not endorse it also.
This is a crap sandwich, dressing it up isn’t going to make it better.
let’s try it the right way. if it fails as (your claim). it fails because then dems make it fail and take the blame (by the way, i don’t buy your claim or your crystal ball).
it’s still obamacare and that’s what is paramount here.
