WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, asked the Justice Department this weekend to publicly reject President Trump’s assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trump’s phones, senior American officials said on Sunday. Mr. Comey has argued that the highly charged claim is false and must be corrected, they said, but the department has not released any such statement.
Mr. Comey made the request on Saturday after Mr. Trump leveled his allegation on Twitter. Mr. Comey has been working to get the Justice Department to knock down Mr. Trump’s claim because there is no evidence to support it and it insinuates that the F.B.I. broke the law, the officials said.
A spokesman for the F.B.I. declined to comment. Sarah Isgur Flores, the spokeswoman for the Justice Department, also declined to comment.

It probably wasn’t an FBI wiretap, per se. More likely it was NSA intercepts of satellite communications. Comey might not know about that, or he does and he’s answering the question very narrowly. Kinda like Bill Clinton parsing the word ‘is’.

Comey is probably who got the warrant from the FISA court. He needs to be fired immediately, along with most of those working at the DOJ.

Regardless of how you feel about him, don’t you think what he presented was on target? He has been in my dog house for months, but today he hit it out of the park IMHO and some sources were saying it was Levin’s radio program Thursday that was the Trigger for President Trump to address the wiretapping allegation.
Would I let him have the combination to my safe? Eh, not yet, but I certainly might let him work on legal representation given how effective he was today.

Some of what they report is very true and I’ll give you they have damaged their brand greatly. However, not everything of bad news for our side is fake. This could very well pan out to be very true and I’d caution yelling fake news until more comes to the forefront. You never know, next day they could cite multiple sources. You among others want names and you know as well as I do it is extremely rare in any reporting to disclose names in Government. It didn’t happen when Bubba was in the White House and we shouldn’t expect the same with our guy.
