The White House is correct to make this demand because it puts the Democrats on the spot. But in reality the investigation is far better conducted by a grand jury rather than these hopeless congressional committees where the Republicans are no better than the Democrats when the television cameras are on.

I hope I'm wrong.

Congress is a legislative body, not an investigative one. It is horrible at investigations.
A grand jury is the right way to go.

This isn't just about that.
For months the Democraps have had a free run with the story line Russian hacks ...Russian hacks . . .Russian hacks... and re energized the storyline with Sessions.
Now the storyline is Russian hacks/Obama spied.
See the difference?
Trump knows the Republicans in Congress are dicks. He said so repeatedly during the campaign.

Agree. Congressional investigations become a politicized grandstanding joke.
It will go nowhere.

I agree that a Grand Jury would be more effective but it is also much more secretive.
Congressional hearings are much more open to the public. If they have half a brain the republicans can smoke out some low level dems that the dems are willing to sacrifice and keep this in the news through the mid terms.
President Trump probably knows he will never pin any crime on the Kenyan klown but he can control the news for a year with what is already known.
He puts Obama and congress on defense.
There are a couple of roads he can take at this point.
If congress proves as ineffective as we believe it to be he can call for a special prosecutor.
I think he is going this route to mute any criticism that he is acting like a dictator, a charge the left is already using.
What I really want to see is this causing some dems to not only admit the humanity of their godling Barack Obama but to have them urinate on his “legacy”.
Rats deserting a sinking ship and all that.

The FISA court that ostensibly turned down and then approved this pre election surveillance was reportedly comprised of three Clinton appointees. Does a federal grand jury have standing and authority to force that FISA court to produce the requests and submitted evidence on which it made its rulings ?
I would think Congress, which can impeach a president or a judge, certainly must.

Now that the gloves are off and the shackles untied, what would you think about Trey Gowdy from SC taking this on?
I would like to know who you would trust to go forward on this.

Agree. Big mistake to refer it to a congressional committee. All we’ll get will be soundbites and grandstanding.
We need a grand jury and a special prosecutor.
