SPYGATE: Liberal Law Professor Jonathan Turley: Obama Spying on Trump Should be ‘Investigated’..

Highly respected liberal law professor and constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley at George Washington University, seemingly one of the few intellectually honest liberals left in America — someone who objectively has criticized both Democrats and Republicans when he thought they were out of bounds — was asked to respond to the stunning charges from President Trump on Saturday that Obama illegally wiretapped Trump Tower during the presidential campaign against Democrat Hillary Clinton and that he was considering legal action.

After CNN anchor Fredricka Whitfield and her guests sounded like Obama’s legal defense team all Saturday morning, Professor Turley provided an alternative to CNN’s shameful coverage of the accusation and its ramifications, characterizing the alleged spying by Obama as “disturbing” and that everyone in should have be interested in having the scandal investigate.

Nobody seems to mention how President Obama illegally used the IRS and the BATF against groups like Tea Parties and True The Vote in order to hammer down political dissent.

Why would he not illegally use any other Federal resource if he already used IRS and the like?

Turley seems to be a stand up guy. He actually respects the law and the Constitution.

It will be an earthquake when the Trump administration answer the Deep State.

Not happening yet. Flynn is out. Sessions is recused. The president tweets. And then we have dinner.

We seem to be burning time and daylight. It’s March already.

And then there is putz Ryan, who I promise you, is definitely not on the Trump Train.

Lindsey Graham wouldn’t do a thing to obama regardless of what he’s done. He’s a show pony.

Sessions is not recused from the possible wiretap investigation.

Exactly. Just a continuation of a previously established pattern of procedure.

IIRC, they didn't even deny the earlier abuses. They simply said it wasn't wrong, and no one took them to court on it. Except maybe Judicial Watch, I'm not sure.

At any rate, using the counter-espionage powers of the federal government against the Democrat's opponent in the presidential race would simply be a scale-up of previous behavior.

By the way, this sure as hell knocked Al Franken's pseudo-scandal right off the front page, didn't it.

First, Sessions certainly should NOT recuse himself from overseeing the investigation into whether Obama and or his team abused our secret intelligence services in order to snoop on a political opponent.

Second, Sessions needs to hire an outside deputy and give that person charge of this case, almost like a special counsel. The problem is that the DOJ and the US Attorneys offices are filled to the brim with liberals sympathetic to Obama and the Clintons. The deputy must not be a liberal and should be someone able to be zealous.

The new deputy brought in should hire a special team of lawyers to assist him or her. That team should NOT be “bipartisan.”

One lesson from the Vince Foster investigation is that Starr was uninvolved, supervising the case from 35,000 feet, and the one lawyer with integrity ended up resigning because lib lawyers on Starr’s team appeared to be undermining the investigation.

If Sessions hires a disengaged deputy to handle this matter and/or they use a bipartisan team of lawyers, the investigation will be sabotaged. Count on it.

The crawl on the video at the beginning says, "Trump claims obama wiretapped him, offers no proof.

You know, that is EXACTLY the description of the entire Russia/election meme. But CNN is all over that. Go figure.

Trump will get every one of these RINOs on the Trump Train over this one.

The best way to do it is to tell them that he's got evidence that Obama was conducting illegal surveillance on all of them, too.

Sessions absolutely has to recuse himself from this. If Sessions was working with Trump's campaign, then there's a damn good chance that his phone conversations and e-mails were intercepted by people in the Obama administration.

Sessions had to recuse himself from any investigation related to the 2016 campaign ... not because he did anything wrong, but because he might be a witness for the prosecution.

I'm sure he will be, if he's not already. See Post #14.

Just give it some time folks. A few days and then appoint a special prosecutor and form a grand jury.

In the meantime, get to Chuckie Schumer and crew and tell them behind doors that they have names, dates, and crimes committed and if they all come clean they might get immunity for turning states evidence.

The very fact that they would be given such, and accept it, would prove they are guilty as hell.

Just takes one.

You are correct. And the AG as a witness wold be a damming thing for the defense.

They will have to appoint a special prosecutor. Get a grand jury going and all that.
