Actually WAY beyond McCarthyism. Joe McCarthy was merely making accusations, then when he tried to back them up, he got stonewalled by the agencies he was trying to investigate. Hiding files and cover-ups are nothing new to the various agencies involved, particularly the State Department and the Department of the Army.
But the actions in trying to tap the phone lines into the Trump Tower are of an entirely different magnitude, it is spycraft being turned on domestic targets. The phone lines going into and out of Trump Tower, prior to Donald Trump becoming President-Elect were, by all odds, not particularly secure beyond the commercially available means of encryption, and probably vulnerable to sophisticated phone message tracking procedures. The cynicism of the phones being tapped for political gain is, in fact, covered by Federal law, and there has been no evidence that a wiretap authorization was ever obtained.
What are the chances this will be on the mainstream news?
There have been reports posted on FR that there was a FISA court warrant obtained. The Obama slimes have probably covered themselves, but the details would be instructive.
Where are the famous Watergate reporters from the Washington Post? Will they say anything? Or will they walk by and not notice?
I think that the references to “McCarthyism” are sound. Although largely unfair, the LIV has been taught that “McCarthyism” is bad and unfair and that it relates to Russia.
