Go figure: New free agent Colin Kaepernick decides to stand for national anthem next season

He told the world he was opting out of his 49ers contract to test the market two days ago. Two days later, meet the newly de-woke-ified Colin Kaepernick.

Quarterback Colin Kaepernick will stand during the national anthem next season, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

Kaepernick no longer wants his method of protest to detract from the positive change he believes has been created, sources told ESPN. He also said the amount of national discussion on social inequality — as well as support from other athletes nationwide, including NFL and NBA players — affirmed the message he was trying to deliver…

Kaepernick said the discussion about social inequality should include all people, and he plans to continue raising money for the underprivileged and presenting the “Know Your Rights” camps nationwide that he started last year.

“No longer wants his method of protest to detract from the positive change he believes has been created” is quite the gassy euphemism for dropping his protest now that it might hurt his paycheck. This guy must be the only liberal in America who’s less eager to protest now that Trump is in office.

His numbers were decent enough last season to warrant some free-agent interest now (16 TDs, 4 INTs) but not so hot as to considerably lighten the load of his political baggage for an interested GM. A possible compromise: He’ll drop the anthem protest, sure, but he’ll have to do something new and more low-key to save face among his left-wing fans. Maybe he’ll take to wearing one of those Castro t-shirts he seems to like so much, or the socks with pigs as police, on the sidelines before games? He has to do something to clear the air of the stench of “sellout.” It’s overpowering.

Via Breitbart, here’s Colin Cowherd reflecting on the obvious.

"Go Figure" what? He's a race pimp attention whore and needs a job. He's like every other piece of liberal filth infesting our planet, viz. he'll say anything to get what he wants.

Liberal broads, for example, to get ahead in business will play the feminist equal rights card. To get ahead in romance, they'll act like the type (they say) they despise.

Hypocrites, every one.

I saw this coming when I heard he was becoming a free agent. Money means a lot to him. It will be interesting to see if his “jail House” conversion in the face of no interest from teams will generate real interest or reduce his eventual salary.

Anyone would be a fool to hire him now knowing who he really is and all the problems he causes.

Since the other thread just got pulled, I thought I'd post my response to this thread:

Anthem-Protesting Former 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick Ignored - Free Agency

If you work for a company, and you want to engage in political activism, you sure as Hell don't do it on company time; you do it on your own time.

This is a timeless business principle.

If you as an employee, and therefore a representative of your company, choose to be controversial, alienate customers, and cost your company money, you should expect to be disciplined, if not summarily terminated.

The notion that such disruptive behavior by any employee of any team (company) should be tolerated*mdash;much less encouraged— is simply anathema to good business. Its bad for business. It is , in a word, ludicrous.

Any team who signs Kaepernick knows that it will alienate fans and consequently harm their bottom line. Why "hire" such an employee?

Now that contracts are up, and options have been exercised, the chickens are coming home to roost for Kaepernick and his ilk.

Colin Kaepernick—the silly goose—has effectively destroyed his career. Or at least set it back in a profound way.

This situation should stand as a powerful lesson: employees should limit their political rants to their personal time, instead of trying to usurp the spotlight from their employer, especially when that employer is a multi-billion dollar juggernaut engaging in the business of making its employees rich by delivering a entertainment product to its customers.

It just astounds me that the Media has ignored this obvious principle, and that—even worse—owners and coaches have submissively rolled over for these idiots instead of standing on principle.

My home team Miami Dolphins took Kaepernick's idiocy and quadrupled it—with four players kneeling—completely infuriating its fan base, of course.

And the worst thing is, their "noble cause" was basically the extremist BLM movement which is based almost entirely on lies, propaganda, and the "racist cop" boogeyman.

Fortunately, the instigators of such activity on the Dolphins are not on the team anymore (Arian Foster, for one), and this year, let's hope that Kenny Stills concentrates more on catching passes than kneeling on the sideline...
