20 years ago my MIL , while doing some intense family history study, discovered that she and FIL both had Blues through more than one ancestral line. The Blues were border area licensed beggars in Britain in the 1600s who were identified by wearing blue clothing hence the name Blue. MIL ceased doing genealogy and forbade anyone bringing up the subject again. Wife has done genealogy from time to time and found that MIL had a black forebear (17oos) and a probably Yammassee Indian three greats grandmother. Wife decided not to tell her mother. MIL had always believed her family was high class English and Scottish.

At present, what is most visible of black culture seems to have nothing to do with traditional BASP or WASP culture.

But part of that blame goes to the media. They choose what we get see. I'm sure more liberal whites celebrate "Kwanza" than blacks. But the media would have you think every black has hung out his stocking for Kwanza Claus. Most blacks whom I know look upon Kwanza with ridicule, at least in private.

If we open our eyes, there is a silent majority in this country. On a Sunday morning, drive through any town, and the black churches are packed and overflowing with respectable black families.

The rest of the week the black community is victimized by the violent rapping thugs that are embedded in many of their neighborhoods. At least that is what becomes most visible. But what can the good people do? Their leaders, the mayors, the senators, the governors are only beholden to "the party".

Maybe someday the BASP community will realize the rat party has sold them down the river.

Every culture has it in its subconscious and conscious minds that lighter is better. That includes all manner of Africans. Black Americans still believe that, though they may protest different and resent it now. American Negroes are the only people who celebrate darker color and they do it hypocritically. It is not a race thing but a skin tone thing.

Hussein is “black” more in the way that Rachel Dolezal is black, by assuming the identity.

A friend who is a just retired history teacher was born to missionary parents in Ethiopia (now Eritrea). When a kid in his class would proclaim his own Africanness(in the 80s and 90s) as something that made him unreachable by a white teacher Tom would get in the kid’s face and tell him that he, Tom, was more African than the kid, having been born in Africa. He had photos to show from addis Ababa and his local village. That usually shut them up and at least one suddenly became a good student and his grades went from D to A in that class.

Was the white part Irish, perhaps?
2/3s of the Irish population was forced into slavery and sold to make money for England.

Pretty funny. Most Americans are, by now, a very mixed breed. My ancestors came here a couple hundred years ago from Scotland. However, if I were to do a DNS test like this, I’d be quite willing to bet there are african, european, asian, and probably some american indian genes mixed in there. Frankly, I’m quite proud of my Heinz 7 background. Americans have been the mutts of the world since our founding. We revel in it, and have taken our rich background and stand as a Colossus across the globe. The liberal idiot (sorry, but I repeat myself) is simply deranged and delusional. Liberalism is a mental disease.

I’m going to take the test from 23andme ... it’s the only one accepted by the courts ,,, if there’s even 0.01% african in me I’m going to use that in bidding local gov’t contracts...

So, not enough Native American to claim benefits?

Those benefits are dependent on you (or a proven ancestor) being on the official federally approved tribal rolls.

If you are not on the rolls then it does not matter how many American Indian genetic markers you have. You are, legally, not American Indian.

The "shame" part is because of indoctrination that all American blacks with white blood are as a result of slave women being raped by their master. They completely dismiss several other very likely possibilities, such as 1) that north Africans and muslims practiced white slavery all along the Mediterranean and West African coasts, via raids into Europe and piracy against European ships; and 2) that slavers purposely captured many Irish fleeing the potato famine of the 1840s, shipped them to the West Indes and interbred them with whites to produce what they believed were slaves who worked harder but were not as susceptible to sun poisoning, skin cancer and so forth.

Irish Sugar Slaves of Barbados

I can remember in my youth a caste system among blacks in which lighter-skinned folks had social advantages. Many "light" folks had formed clubs and associations in the post-Civil War era and many strived to intermarry with one another through these associations. In the 60s you could still hear fair-complected blacks citing their West indes backgrounds as being a source of social or cosmetic refinement, in many cases completely unaware of the history of the area.

And 3) let's not discount the possibility of voluntary sexual behavior between whites and blacks throughout the history of the U.S., whether the individuals were enslaved or free. An early and highly influential president of Georgetown University (Patrick Healy, S.J., 1830-1910) was part black and in fact was born into slavery. His Irish-American father voluntarily made a common-law love marriage with a light-skinned slave woman whom he had originally purchased to work on his property, but they lived together as a couple all their adult lives. They cherished their many children and sent them North to obtain good educations. Healy and several of his brothers earned PhD's and held high positions, and two of his sisters became nuns.

Where did she think “paper bag” blacks got their lack of color?

From drinking all that café au lait? (Fr.: coffee with milk)

... MIL had always believed her family was high class English and Scottish.

Good story! Our family has an ancestor who was the father of one of the most influential, powerful and upright American men of the late 19th–early 20th centuries. The name is a household word. But the father we are descended from was a drunk and a scoundrel who brought shame on his wife and children. We're not descended from the famous son, but from one of his brothers, who was a cowboy.

My Mom did the DNA test and discovered she’s 5% Neanderthal.

...

Some believe those are conserved genes from a common ancestor and not the result of interbreeding.
