....Moonlight won the top prize at Sunday nights Oscars ceremonyafter some initial envelope confusion created a bizarre sceneand, despite the fact that the independent drama never made much of a splash at the box office. The movie, about a young, gay black man growing up in an impoverished Miami neighborhood, has only made a little more than $22.2 million in domestic movie ticket sales so far, according to Box Office Mojo. That made Moonlight the lowest-grossing Best Picture nominee at this years Academy Awardsand among the lowest ever for a Best Picture winnereven after generating months of Oscars buzz.

.....The lowest-grossing film to ever win the Best Picture Oscar (accounting for inflation) is the 2009 Iraq war drama The Hurt Locker, which made only $17 million domestically (or, around $19.4 million in todays dollars).
I’ve already seen it six times.
MOONLIGHT, seems to me, was the WE ARE SORRY pick because of the snowflakes “OSCARS SO WHITE” whining last year.
Nobody wanted to see this flick, but it’s the BEST movie made last year? Laughable.
I post this because every local media outlet in Miami (this was a Miami based movie) is going ga ga over it.
“The movie, about a young, gay black man growing up in an impoverished Miami neighborhood”
But it hit a homerun as far as the Oscar bean counters are concerned, which seems to be what was needed this year.
What’s not to like? Gay, black, in the ghetto.
I don’t know anyone who really cares what or who “wins” an Academy Award anymore...
It will not be very much longer until digital actors make up most of the movie characters and these Hollywood prima donas and divas will cease to exist...
Oh happy day!!!!!!
Real people don’t want to pay to see a homo-promo.
'The winner is La La Land. [SLAP] The winner is Moonlight. '
Clearly the winner of the affirmative melanin participation award
They just need to drop the pretense and give an award for Bravest Homosexual Themed Pucture.
Best Picture “Winner”
Ha ha ha ha.
Wow. With a tagline like that, who could resist? /sarc
Evidently the movie was made with a politically correct formula with only one expectation: win awards given by leftists.
And they’ll probably make money on it by forcing schools to show it.
You have to wonder what the reaction would have been if “Moonlight” was first named the winner and then “La La Land” was awarded the Oscar due to a mix up.
This is nothing but PC crap. No one wants to see a movie glorifying perversion.
THIS crowd is always GOOD about picking LOOSERS.
