Marijuana lacks the physiological markers for addiction. Users can be psychologically dependent, but addiction to marijuana doesn’t scientifically exist.
That said, having smoked marijuana in my younger years, I can tell you that not only did I not want to be on the road, if I was, I drove like I was 90 years old and in the far left lane. There was no “barreling.”
Drug policy should be given back to the states, IMO.

Strike two for Attorney General Jeff Sessions in two days. Somebody ought to give him an IQ test before he strikes out.
It is one thing to support Sessions as I have against a bogus campaign to undermine the election with a preposterous claim about the Russians and quite another to support Jeff Sessions on his marijuana nonsense.
I had hoped that this was at least one milestone we had finally passed before final, inevitable surrender in the long, hopeless and costly war on drugs.

I am 100% against recreational drug use. I can buy medicinal marijuana for people with chronic or terminal disease.
However, I also think this is a perfect example of how the 10th Amendment should work. Go ahead, Colorado, be the test case. But, 49 other states should lay back for ten years and see what happens, then make your decision.
Instead, the doofus political class sees a bandwagon and wants to jump on it just because that’s what the cool kids are doing.

The United States is a signator to a treaty which prohibits the legalization of marijuana. By allowing states to engage in legalization and legitimizing the trafficking in marijuana, the US would be in violation not only of existing federal laws but treaties. Sessions is only indicating his intention to enforce existing laws.
Are we a nation of laws?

I agree.
A lot of what the Federal Government regulates should return to the States. Also, a lot of what the Federal Government pays for should return to the States.

Picture this scenario: a joint-smoking MJ addict barreling down the highway towards you while texting. Any nutjob barreling down the highway at me while texting is a danger, regardless of whether they are smoking a joint or not. So why not have the Justice Department go after them?

We already have laws against driving while impaired - whether by weed or by alcohol. Sessions needs to leave this alone - states are legalizing marijuana use for medical purposes and increasingly for recreational purposes. Marijuana will be legal in a majority of states within a matter of years.
