Just when you thought the 'Russians-did-it' meme was fading, WaPo reporters manage to find DoJ officials who say then-Senator Jeff Sessions spoke twice last year with Russias ambassador to the United States - encounters he did not disclose when asked about possible contacts with Moscow during his confirmation hearing to become attorney general.
At his Jan. 10 Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing, Sessions was asked by Sen. Al Franken, a Minnesota Democrat, what he would do if he learned of any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of the 2016 campaign.
Im not aware of any of those activities, he responded.
He added: I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians.
And now, as The Hill reports that according to The Washington Post report, President Trump's attorney general, Jeff Sessions, spoke twice with Russia's ambassador to the United States while Trump was on the campaign trail.
Justice Department officials said one of the meetings was a private conversation between Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in Sessions's office. The private meeting reportedly took place during the same time intelligence officials have said Russia was interfering with the U.S. presidential election through a hacking campaign.
Officials said Sessions did not consider the conversations relevant to the lawmakers questions and did not remember in detail what he discussed with Kislyak.
There was absolutely nothing misleading about his answer, said Sarah Isgur Flores, Sessionss spokeswoman.

This crap is getting old, they want marches, if they try to go after AG Sessions, lets give them a damn march.
Maybe I missed something, but since when a sitting US senator can not talk to an official of another country...?
Also Franken is an clown...
DOJ *official*: probably some holdover or career civil service who supported zer0/cankles.
DOJ *official*>>WaPo>>The Hill=circle jerk. So, let’s see an affidavit of deposition on this DOJ *official*. WaPo and The Hill are irrelevant. Special Prosecutors are appointed when there is actionable events. Prove actionable events, first. Then depose the reporters who will likely cite journalistic confidentiality of sources, which gets the entire thing nowhere, so it all becomes moot.
A Senator can speak to an Ambassador in their office. The day planner would give some clue as to the content of the conversation.
This is a continuation of the donk impeachment wet dream.
Did anyone see Tucker Calson disembowel Senator John Cornyn tonight? That bastard DOESN’T want the WALL! Defeat him!!!
Wasn’t Franken the guy on SNL who wore the baby diaper
and wallowed on the floor?
How many Senators spoke to the Russian Ambassador and
other Ambassadors on behalf of their home states last
year?
Senate or house, if it is a Democrat (Kennedy, Harkin, Kerry, Pelosi ) it is okay, and a Republican "maverick" (McCain, Amash..) can do it.
Nobody else can.

“Ignore them and proceed with the agenda.
Let them scream and look stupid.
Thats what Democrats taught us. We should learn the lesson.”
Unfortunately, there is a difference between Republicans and democrats. Democrats protect their own. Republicans backstab.
I heard about it, I see there are other stories on this.
Sessions has been one of my favorite politicians inside the beltway for quite some time. I hope this can work itself out alright.
Though Zero Hedge may be more respectable now, some of their stories in the past were so over the top in my opinion, I don’t look at them as any kind of a go-to source for information.
I sat on a plane two weeks ago, right behind a Russian couple. Oh oh.
The dems have zero integrity.
Yes. They confirmed that last night.
Its just amazing how the “no blood for oil” Left, without the slightest shame or sense of hypocrisy, are now the biggest fear-mongers and war-mongers against Russia - a nuclear power no less.
Are you referring to the Awan scandal? Didn’t that only involve donks?
Are you referencing the Webb investigation, here? Schiff/Nunes are going to point to McCabe and Hillary. Now the Awan brothers (and one wife) are a real national security issue. Let’s go there. Hammering Trump is irrelevant to that case. It all happened under zer0. I’d love to see the reaction to a zer0/Muslim Brotherhood/Democrat scandal.
Correct me if I’m wrong but talking to “Russians”
is not illegal and the the only thing they are trying to do is say he lied and must resign which will not happen.
1. So far the info is anonymous, but Sessions office isn’t denying it.
2. Very possible Sessions simply didn’t recall the meetings, but he has stepped into it by his statements to Congress. Not clear if those were under oath.
3. Pressure will be ramped up on Sessions now, to at least recuse himself from any Russian investigation, after Flynn actually resigned over a similar incident of contact with this same Russian Ambassador.
4. Situation is also similar to recent issue with AG Lynch who was caught meeting with Bill Clinton while Hillary was under investigation by the FBI. Lynch said they were only discussing grandchildren (although she has none), and she did not actually recuse herself from the Clinton investigation, but rather said she would accept the recommendation of the FBI.
5. Special Prosecutors are typically only ever called upon after there is likely evidence of an actual crime, wherein there is nothing close to that in this case. However, once they are put in place, they often go on fishing expeditions looking for anything illegal they can find, whether related to their initial purpose or not.
6. I think Republicans should follow the Obama/Lynch playbook, since it so recently happened with the Clinton investigation. No different than sticking with the nuclear option in the Senate for the current nominations. Democrats made those decisions for themselves, so those standard should be good enough for Republicans as well, so soon after Democrats used that same strategy. When they protest, remind them constantly, might even be able to get a few to admit it was a mistake.
Maybe it isn't just Republicans who are beholding to the House of Saud anymore.

That’s right. This is BS news.
Were they there to flip the island?
Somebody is really afraid of something being exposed. And it isn’t the Russians or a video about Islam.
We watched The Prince of Egypt tonight. Moses was afraid, but he stood firm and had faith.
And i don’t believe even if the campaign talked to the Russians that is illegal.
