AG Sessions Accused Of Lying To Congress Over Contact With Russian Ambassador
Zero Hedge ^ | 3-1-2017 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 03/01/2017 7:36:32 PM PST by blam

Just when you thought the 'Russians-did-it' meme was fading, WaPo reporters manage to find DoJ officials who say then-Senator Jeff Sessions spoke twice last year with Russia’s ambassador to the United States - encounters he did not disclose when asked about possible contacts with Moscow during his confirmation hearing to become attorney general.

At his Jan. 10 Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing, Sessions was asked by Sen. Al Franken, a Minnesota Democrat, what he would do if he learned of any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of the 2016 campaign.

“I’m not aware of any of those activities,” he responded.

He added: “I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians.”

And now, as The Hill reports that according to The Washington Post report, President Trump's attorney general, Jeff Sessions, spoke twice with Russia's ambassador to the United States while Trump was on the campaign trail.

Justice Department officials said one of the meetings was a private conversation between Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in Sessions's office. The private meeting reportedly took place during the same time intelligence officials have said Russia was interfering with the U.S. presidential election through a hacking campaign.

Officials said Sessions did not consider the conversations relevant to the lawmakers’ questions and did not remember in detail what he discussed with Kislyak.

“There was absolutely nothing misleading about his answer,” said Sarah Isgur Flores, Sessions’s spokeswoman.

I hate to say it....but if you take into consideration how much the Russian ambassador to the US travels around the country...attends parties and functions....there’s pretty good odds that at least 15,000 Americans this year will have a conversation with the guy. If you toss in his staff....then there’s around one million Americans who will end having a conversation this year with some Russian in the US. If someone wants to open up an investigation...it’d take decades to conclude just what happened for one single month on conversations.

AG Sessions has just recently denied the allegations about 11:30 East Coast time (just heard it reported in MSNBC)

I agree with you.

When you look at the lies told in Congress every day, I’m willing to let Sessions slide unless there really were a scandal.

Prove Russia did something or shut up.

In what way are you delusional? Your reply that it's "too soon" to tell the fate of Sessions.

Today, tomorrow, eight years from now, the facts are the same: There is no crime, no news, no substance, no "there" there. Sessions isn't in trouble. He isn't going to be. This entire story is manufactured.

I bet some of the chefs in some of the Trump hotels deal with Russian vendors to get their caviar and vodka. The web of involvement runs deep!

Also, the article does not say WHEN the alleged meeting(s) Sessions had with the Russian Ambassador. Perhaps they were much earlier in the year, well before it was decided Trump would be the Republican nominee.

The article says the Sessions meetings took place “while Trump was on the campaign trail”. Sounds to me like it could have been before the Iowa Caucuses or the NH Primary had even happened.

"....Prove Russia did something or shut up...."

Exactly. There is no evidence that the Russians did anything with the Trump campaign or vice versa. Until there is an alleged crime, then no-one will be charged or indicted.

But the Left has let themselves get too far over they're ski tips. They're out of control. The Left has charges in pursuit of a crime not yet committed. They want to charge Trump with treason, they want to impeach him, they want to negate the election and install Hillary, all because the Hillary campaign used the Russians as an excuse why she lost. Nothing more. No evidence of anything, let alone a crime.

This entire Russian thing continues to make me laugh.

CNN is back to their “Breaking News” banner with the guests talking about jail for any Trump supporting Republican who spoke with the Russians.

Democrats are using big phrases they don’t understand like “The Rule of Law”.

And, of course, both are talking about “Russian hacking of the election”.

What’s the end game? There isn’t one, other than to create a false perception and to fund raise off this crap.

“If this happened to a democRAT they would plow ahead as if nothing happened.”

democRATs don’t have McCain, Graham, Issa, etc. in their party.

While Republicans reach across the aisle, democRats hold the line.

More Fake News.
President Trump, however, needs to get rid of the Obama holdovers.
Mr. Sessions is, indeed, on of the most honorable, decent men in Washington, D.C.
Er, one of the guys at the coffee table said he saw someone who looked like a Russian.
